It’s the details. Terrific place, one of the more exceptional dine in restaurants in the greater Sacramento area. I came in... on crutches and laid them on the bench next to me. Never once did a waiter or waitress ask me to move them, no matter how busythe restaurant became. How polite. :) As a graphic designer, I also especially loved looking for where I can find the littlebaker logo guy. From the pin on the waiters shirt to the more abstract packaging of the to go bags, it was like “Where’sWaldo” looking for him. Of course, the food was good. Prices are not over the top. This particular location is consistently great. The food, service, everything. I wish I could remember our servers name, as he... did a great job. I ordered a fish dish that was on the specials menu. I think it was halibut? It was great! Was served withgarlic mashed potatoes and sautéed veggies. Very yummy. My date ordered a veal dish. It too was a special. It was very tasty! Enjoyed the setting and the service was great. We mostly enjoyed our meals but nothing really stood out as great. We ordered the... calamari to start with a few cocktails. For the main course we ordered the veal plate and seafood spaghetti. The veal was thebiggest letdown as it was closer to a chicken fried steak. Drinks were Good but lacking attention to detail. Terrible service. Had a reservation but was told to wait while we watched others come in and be immediately seated. We finally... asked and got seated immediately (they forgot about us). We got seated in a busy area so the waiter had no excuse to stop andcheck on us, and he regularly walked by without saying anything. No bread brought out until we asked (but water was? Notsupposed to unless you ask for it), no asking us if we wanted another drink (we should not need to ask this), no providingproper utensils. The cooking service was great. Food was on time and tasted good (though over-salted like most restaurants).Didn't try dessert and was not even offered it. Overall: I will not be back but someone else may have a better experience giventhe right staff. If your waiter has tats on his neck poking out of his collar then you may experience our same service. Very classy restaurant! They were all booked that evening with a parry going on on the outside patio but the bar was open so we... managed to get a table. Our server was super nice and kind. She recommended some appetizers. All food is made fresh in therestaurant and was delicious. Their pizza is amazing! And the wine is great quality! They serve it in a unique way as well. Read more
My husband and I went here on Friday, date night! The braised short ribs, root veggies, and potatoes were phenomenal. We had a... dessert afterwards, essentially icecream with espresso poured over the top, so yummy! Our waiter was incredible too. We'll begoing back for the atmosphere and delicious food. Read more
Food- Hot, Consistent & delicious! Fornaio never disappoints! Service- Fantastic service & very attentive. Server came by a few... times just to re-fill our water glasses. Very friendly & responsive. Atmosphere- As we walked in we noticed strong agas/propane odor and alerted the server. Smell was still lingering through the restaurant as well left. Had a headache when Iarrived home.
