A nice rustic atmosphere in downtown Royal Oak. I enjoy the burnt ends (15 hours, smoked brisket ends in barbecue sauce!). The... staff here is friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this establishment. Read more

When I walked in the place of business was not at all packed. I waited at the front to be seated for few minutes. After looking... around and still no one coming to seat me I wasn?t happy. I asked a customer at the bar if anyone was working. He wasn?t polite. Then a lady with a smirk on her face came up and replied, The waitress is busy. Can I help u. I wasn?t sure if I wanted to stayafter the encounter but I was Hungry. After the waitress came I was at ease as her personality was A1!!! She was very respectfuland Professional. The food was just not good at all. Very small portions for their prices. The pulled pork.. More fat than darnpork given. It was cold. After some bites I hit red meat and couldn?t eat no more after that. Mac and cheese was semi warm butstill eatable. Fries were overcooked and cold. Peach cobbler was definitely not homemade as I was told. Peaches was only goodthing about it. The gumbo was ????. Very small portions for the high prices. Maybe someone will get better food than me. Wasn?tgood my first visit here. Read more

I?m not even sure how this place has a 4.2 rating. I personally am being generous with a 1 star. Let me set the scene, walk the... place is empty on a Friday night, we didn?t get friendly service. The pulled pork was decent. I got Mac and cheese and it camecold (the bun on my sandwich was hotter) they reheated the Mac and it was dryer then a bone, tried the fry?s and they were coldon the inside. ITS NOT HOT! Read more

We visited this place on Father's day, and there was 30 mins wait for 2 ppl. Restaurants was only half filled but they appeared... to have staff shortage, which is understandable in such times. Their lemonade was awesome, never disappoints, but i can't saythe same for their food. We ordered the briskets, chicken and chicken wings, plus sides (which were delicious ). The food wascolder than expected, but still decided to try it. My partner and I were disappointed by the brisket as it was very dry andchewy. We tried using their specialty bbq sauces but didn't help much. The chicken tasted old and "chickeny". This is the 2ndtime that I'm disappointed with Lockhart's and i don't know if it's worth going anymore. Read more

It's a BBQ place, that's for sure. Happy hour is nice, $4 beers and half off apps. Got the sausage appetizer, the hot is... definitely hot. The mac and cheese was bland but also was made with some sort of sharp cheddar. Sharp cheese in a mac and cheeseis a bit unconventional, I'd order a different side next time. The hush puppies were fantastic, order more of those. Brisket wasgood, smoky, and tender. Pulled pork was a bit dry, but it's pulled pork so don't expect much. Read more

This was the only place that was immediately available to seat my wife and I. Not only was the service extremely quick, but the... atmosphere was cheery and upbeat. You can tell that friends come here for good food and good times. I'll definitely be comingback here when I'm in the area. The bacon appetizer was the perfect mixture of sweet and spicy. The Mac and cheese Shepard'spie was fulfilling and the portion size was perfect. Hats off to you guys, keep on doing what you're doing, it's working well. Read more

I had take out last weekend. There was Winterfest going on literally right in front of the restaurant so picking it up was very... complicated. I think if I get take out again I will definitely make sure there is nothing going on in downtown Royal Oak. Ididn't like that when I came to pick up the food it was just sitting on the bar. I wish it were in a warmer or something. Itjust seemed odd to just be sitting out in the open waiting for pickup. Overall, the food was pretty good. The ribs were thebest part of the meal. The beans were tasty, the macaroni and cheese was slightly better than average. I definitely enjoyed thatthe coleslaw was savory and not sweet. I love savory coleslaw. It needed a little salt and pepper, but that was remedied easily. If I had to further critique something, it would be the cornbread. The cornbread was very dense, I'd say too dense. They gaveus two barbecue sauces, not enough for the two racks of ribs that we ordered. I wish they had given us a little more barbecuesauce. Also when ordering there were not any prices on the website which made it a little bit difficult when calling and tryingto ask for prices while ordering because the person on the phone really didn't know, he had to put me on hold and look it up. Icould tell that they were very busy and he was doing a lot of things so I felt that I was annoying him by asking how much thingscost. Add prices to the website and that problem will be solved! I probably will return to Lockhart's at a later date. I mighttry to dine in instead and see what that experience is like. Read more

Good food! Recommended! I ordered the 3 meats combo (Brisket, Pulled Pork and Ribs) with sweet potatoes fries and mac-n-cheese,... everything was delicious the only problem and the reason for the 4-star was that the food was a little cool, I would like it tobe warmer. Besides that everything was great, food service and drinks My favorite was the ribs and sweet potato fries theywere so delicious. Read more
