This is a charming restaurant on 5th Street between main and Lafayette. I was told By the friendly staff the word ?Pastaio?... means handmade. The street is closed to auto traffic so you have to park in a lot most Likely. The decor is eclectic and thereis a steady stream of electronic dance music pumping. The menu is really full without being overwhelming. Lots of handmadepastas, meats, seafood and veal. Tonight there were 2 specials on the menu. I chose shrimp arrabiata with spaghetti. It wasdelicious and ???? spicy! If you like a kick, this is it! Great experience and highly recommended! Read more

Me and my friend came here last week and im so glad we did. This is the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to. I had the... meatballs which were delicious, one more pinch of salt and it would have been too salty. I had pasta with lobster tails, shrimpand scallops for 42 dollars and that was really good. It just needed some salt to it and I had an Apple Sangria with Brandy andCrown Apple in it and when I say that drink was sooooo good! My friend had the chilean sea bass which was good also. I will beback really soon. It sucks people had a bad experience. I've been 4 times already and all my friends loved the restaurant. Read more

Went in not knowing what to expect and was delighted. The food is great. Roman style pizza was charred perfectly with a generous... amount of toppings. Pasta portion was huge - enough for two or three. Carpaccio was lovely too. Even the chocolate cake was verygood. The service was incredibly friendly and very efficient. Read more

Just what Royal Oak needed. I'm not really a fan of any other Italian place in Royal Oak. We ate here for Sweetest Day and... really loved it. Food and drinks were great. Bartender Victoria was very attentive. The only bad thing was the service was slowbut we didn't have a reservation and the restaurant was packed so it was expected. We ordered apps, drinks and dinner and thewhole experience took less than 2 hours which wasn't too bad. The complimentary bread was fantastic. We also ordered the friedburatta, rigatoni and Asian pizza. I think the pasta was probably the best thing. They make their pasta from scratch and you cantaste it. I was surprised that the pizza was a square sheet pan pizza but it was actually much better than I expected. The foodwas very good overall. The prices were a bit high to make it a regular place, but it's probably great for special occasions orthose times you want to splurge. Read more

BRUNCH REVIEW ONLY! Service was great. Vibe and atmosphere was nice too on the upstairs patio. Kale Caesar was good (7.8/10).... Good portion size. Addition of the pine nuts was nice touch. Good amount of dressing. Eggs Benedict (2/10). The potato hash waslukewarm. The poached egg was completely overcooked with no runny yolk (it was firm); was like eating a hard boiled egg. TheEnglish muffin was very tough and hard to cut into. Maybe they are using frozen english muffins? Also do not like the factthere is a fee to use a credit card (3%). Pastaio masks this as a "Customer Service Charge." Do not make customers pay aseparate, bucketed cost to use a credit card. The customer service charge is on the total of the bill, not only the subtotal soyou are paying on top the tax as well. I am sure the brunch is a work in progress so willing to give another shot down theline. Read more

We came in this week during the soft launch. It was.. a work in progress. The host and wait staff were very friendly. But the... service was chaotic and disorganized. At least upstairs on the patio. No fault of the servers. Poor management, communication, and trouble executing. The food took forever, and was good. The garlic bread is cold, but I think its supposed to be. The drinkswere good. The pasta good. The fried burrata just tasted like mozzarella sticks. The asian bbq pizza didnt taste asian.. tastedlike thai chili. No fountain drinks served on the rooftop. Very odd and inconvenient. The staff all looked nervous andinexperienced, minus the actual servers. We will give it another try once things get going. It has potential and I have highhopes. The waitstaff and bartenders were amazing. It is so refreshing to go to a place that has a good mocktail menu. The stuffed... portobello mushrooms were wonderful, as was the kale side salads. My partner got a pasta dish that he thought was bland, and hewished he had gone with the pizza instead as he saw it brought out to others. We were told to sit at the bar because there weretoo many reservations. When we got to the second floor, there were about 10 open tables. We were there for about two hours, andduring that time only two of those tables were used, but we kept seeing additional people guided to the bar for the same reason. Read more
