My husband remembered this restaurant from his childhood! We loved the nostalgic feel and the delicious roastbeef diner,... vegetables, soup, potatoes and incredible bread! The service was top notch! Don't miss this gem! Read more

Good home-cooked style meals. Love visiting. It's typically more of an older crowd but the food is great! You HAVE to get the... roast beef, mashed potatoes, and gravy. Read more

Best place ever! Remember it from when I was a kid. Very little has changed. Good food - dependable. Friendly, courteous staff... that treat customers well. They must be doing something right because they have been around for forever. Read more

I?ve been coming here ever since my great great grandfather Winthrop B. Chesterfeather first brought me in the roaring 40?s.... You?ll note one of his teapots (the one with the dent) is still on the shelf. The seasoning of the gravy of the roast beefdinner of the Sign of the Beefcarver is to die for! In fact, many have. The pickles could be better. I recommend the stuffing, the cabbage, but NOT the stuffed cabbage. They close at 7, which give me time to get home for wheel of fortune before bedtime. Read more

Always liked their variety and home cooked feel. Used to be a number of them around, now the Woodward location is the only one... left. Prices have increased and not many "specials " anymore, but that is true all over. I guess. Wife got beef, and I gotthe cod. Both very good. We go about once a month. I'd recommend it. Read more

Unchanged since I was a kid it was like a stepping back into a time machine. Everything tasted great just like it always did... this will be a regular stop at my monthly visits to Detroit not just for the steel but for good old fashioned food. Everybodywas friendly just like people used to be and the food was so old school ...great Read more
