Burgers are a rare cheat day item for me and I always steer clear of the large clown and toy chains out there in hopes of... finding something special. My son and I tried Charlie's in Royse City one Saturday afternoon a couple of weeks back and decidedto share "The Hoss." Our first bite immediately confirmed we found our "got to have a burger on cheat day" haven. Burger:Ordered medium and the kitchen nailed it. Not many placed can get such a great sear AND hit temp these days, but they did. Well seasoned, not overworked. Great job. Fries: Although my son would kick a grown man in the teeth for a good order offries, they aren't really my thing, but Charlie's fries were crispy, well-seasoned, and everything you'd want in a fried sliverof spud. They also get a passing score. Onion rings: Not greasy, no weird batter that tastes of vanilla cake, just crispy,golden, well-seasoned slices of greatness. Worth it. We went back a week later with my wife and daughter and Charlie's staffhit everything out of the park again from the burgers, salads, soup, and the chicken-fried steak. It was my 1st time there & also my birthday so my friend hoped me blow my diet by getting us desserts 1st & then cheese "sticks"... that were triangle. They were very good regardless of shape. We like Charlie's for burgers, onion rings, fries, and drinks. And the COBBLERS!!! If there is any available, get some!!! Close... to home and convenient for us, with consistently good quality, decent prices, and usually good service. Great burger joint in Royce City, right off I-30, Exit 77A, at FM548. Have great burgers. Homemade onion rings. Cheddar... Bacon BBQ Burger, and Egg-cellent Burger is good. You can actually split a burger if not too hungry, as some are$10-14.00 Good fries, thick cut. Salads are large, and could share. Wait staff is pleasant. Read more

Our Waiter was very young but sweet and attentive. We had cheese burgers and fries. And honestly I was impressed at all. Fries... were not hot and burgers over cooked. My son asked me not to complain so I didn't. Oh and the 2 desserts that we asked for theydidn't have. We will not be going back. I'd rather eat McDonald's or Jack in the box. So sad! Read more

I grew up with one of these in Sulphur Springs Texas. I was so sad to see it close. Coming back from Dallas one day and we... noticed it. Told the wife we had to try it to see if it was the same style of hamburgers. To my surprise they tasted even betterthan I remembered! Big burgers and they are so juicy and tasty. The menu had something for everyone! My son had the chickenfried steak. It was a huge portion. My other son got the chicken tenders. They had a perfect batter on them. Will go back forsure!
