I can't say enough about the service I received at Matera's. My business hosts a meeting in The Loft, which is their upstairs... event space, two times per month, so I have the owner's personal contact information. My friend ordered food from the store butbefore he got a chance to pick up the order he had to deal with a family emergency and the store closed. I called the owner andsomeone met me at the store to make sure the food was cooked fresh to fulfill my friend's order. Not too many businesses offersuch exceptional service any more! Good place for sandwiches, meats, and other authentic Italian foods. I recently tried some of the frozen soups and they were... pretty vile. I?d highly advise to stay away from them?especially the chicken and the Italian Wedding soup. I could be wrong, butthere doesn?t seem like much quality control as far as the freshness of the soups are concerned. There are no dates on thecontainers, so who knows when they were actually made and for how long they have been sitting in the freezer. The ItalianWedding soup and the chicken soup were extremely disappointing and not worth the purchase. I tossed both of them in the trashand had no qualms about it. The Italian Wedding soup tasted off and was quite disgusting, to be frank. Other than that, theirfrozen dinners are pretty good and their sandwiches are satisfying. They also have a lot of nice Italian desserts and sweetsthat you don?t see in many places, other than Italy itself. Overall, I?d recommend to check the place out as long as you heed myadvice. My visit to Matera?s deserves somewhere between 4 and 5 stars. I stopped in on a Monday afternoon and the place was packed with... high schoolers eating. Any time a place is popping like that during the week, it?s a good sign. I went in with a fewrecommendations for a first timer, but I ended up going with the H7 and I?m glad I did. It was one of the best vodka chickenParms I?ve ever had. The woman asked what kind of bread I wanted and I let her choose. She recommended the ciabatta, and it wasthe single best ciabatta I?ve ever had. It perfectly soaked up the vodka sauce while maintaining perfect crispness on theoutside. It was a little different from a standard chicken parm in that there were big pieces of mozz on top of the chickeninstead of just one melted layer. Awesome, awesome, awesome sandwich! Read more
The Hot Food in the case amazing. Presentation beautiful stuffed breads amazing either by a whole one or by the peace delicious... we had stuffed Bread with ricotta and spinach & mozzarella cheese delicious everything I wanted to have a pound of it if Icouldn have. It was delightful just to be there and smell the this smells in the Kitchen of everything being cooked what adelight. What a delight being right in front of me the olive oils & all the many kinds of olives behind the glass Looking So-Delious, the fresh cheeses it was just delightful to be in the store beautiful tables just sitting there looking around seeingthe custom baskets being made right in front of us it was delightful to have a nice meal there a dinner to go or take somethingwith us which we did we ate some lunch there and then we took something with us.then we came back the following day we gotsomething else as well and we don't live in the area but it was just that nice of a place.The food was Outragious.We had visitedthe Newly finished upstairs room with Memo the room is beautiful room for any kind of events with Windows all the way around onPark Avenue well worth any event you may have Michael in the staff will accommodate I'm sure very large screen TV on the wall tohelp accommodate any parties the what time you come dating tables as needed bathroom facilities as well as a refrigerator in thebar area is upstairs as well. Ordered the 7 day prep dinners. The chicken Marsala had no Marsala and the Chicken Francaise was awful. The chicken was so tough... even using a steak knife to try to cut it didn?t work. Had to throw it all away. The meatball parm was tasteless. The penne invodka sauce was dry as a bone. The only good dinner was the eggplant parm and that was just ok. I called and Chris sent me twomore chicken dinners and they were the same-terrible! It cost me $60 and what a waste of money. They should find a newchef/cook. Tried to speak with Michael but he was never there. I won?t be ordering these meals again. Too bad because thesandwiches are pretty good. Last year bought a wet mozzarella and it was sour.
