I really liked this place! Not too stuffy, but really exemplifies the farm to table vibe. They have a good instinct about local... fresh quality ingredients and how to prepare them. We weren’t sure what to expect from the Sacramento food scene, but Magpie Cafe was really good! Go with a big group and order... a bunch of appetizers to share, because they were delicious. Our favorites were the pork belly and the tomato and burrata salad.While the steak and vegetable side dish was a little underseasoned, the fries were wonderfully crispy. The cherry on top was thewatermelon agua fresca, which our waitress informed us happened to have free refills for the night!! It was so refreshing andperfectly sweet. Read more
On our journey to Chico from the Central San Joaquin Valley we decided to forego the highway fast food and venture into town.... Magpie caufht our eye and didn't disappoint. We had a beautiful BLT featuring Llano Seco bacon cooked to perfection. Theheirloom tomatoes were like jewels and the fresh greens added just the right amount of zing. 10/10 on VEGAN options! The atlas Monroe chicken sandwich has changed my life....everything is perfectly spiced and portioned.... Fine dining in a laid back atmosphere at its best!! I live less than one mins walk from here, I will be back for more vegandishes! Thanks so much!! RIP Atlas Monroe ): much more limited now on vegan options, but the soups are phenomenal. Read more
This is a super cute place with vegan friendly and gluten-free options in Midtown. We had a really nice dinner here and our... server, Carmen, was awesome! We shared the Potatoes and Spicy Peppers, which I highly recommend if you aren't afraid of a littlespice. I ordered the Hummus Bowl and it was equally delicious, served with seasonal vegetables and local barley. My unbelievablyhandsome fiance ordered the Steak Frites, and the steak was cooked beautifully. All around a beautiful meal and I can't wait togo back! Read more
Party of 4 plus an infant stroller (1 disabled adult). We originally had a reservation at Slim and Frog but they were not very... accommodating with our request. I called Magpie Cafe if they have an available table for my specific party and said they have alarge party coming but will be able accommodate mine. We had a nice spot for everyone.
