Genji's isn't what it used to be. My wife and I attempted to eat there twice in the past month. The first time we stood in the... lobby for almost 5 minutes and never saw a soul. Not a great start, so we left. Then on a Friday night we walked in and thehostess clearly wasn't interested in being there. Sounding like we were bothering her, she asked if we wanted to sit at a tableor the grill. We said we'd like a table. She went to check on something, came back and told us the dining room was closed (therewere only 3 other cars in the lot) and asked if we wanted to sit at a grill, but just order off the menu. We told her that wasfine and she told us to wait while she checked something again. She came back and said the grill wasn't available and asked ifwe wanted to sit at the sushi bar. We told her not to worry about it, we didn't mean to be an inconvenience, and left. I don'tplan on going back. Read more

I wish I would’ve just waited for Hokkaido! This was horbbile! Small portions for $80! Tiny shrimp, dry chicken! Who put corn... in fried rice? Gross! I had pick them out! Soup was delicious, salad is a salad! The rice wasn’t fresh! I almost didn’t getthe soup and salad because I had to ask for it after she brought my food out! I thought it came with it in my $80 meals! Sodisappointed ?? Read more

We made reservations online and as soon as our whole party arrived we were seated at a table. We all got hibachi dinners and... they were very good. The flavor of the meal was so good it didn't even need yum yum or ginger sauce. We did not care too muchfor the pork eggrolls. The menu also said 3 come in an order and instead we got 5 halves which is 2 egg rolls and a half of 1.Our chef was personable and put on a great show. This place was definitely worth visiting while in Saginaw and made it into ourtop 3 favorite hibachi restaurants that we have been to. Read more

All of the food we got was good and our waitress was nice. This was our first time eating here and I have a couple of... complaints. The menu that they gave us didn't match up to their current menu so when we ordered a sushi roll what it said itwas in their menu and what we got was totally different. It said in the menu that you got to pick what seafood was in it andthat everything was cooked but what we received was raw. My husband still enjoyed it but I did not because I don't care for theraw stuff. Then we went at lunch time and so we assumed we would get the lunch prices but when our bill came we did not get thedeal. We said something about it and were told we had to specify that we wanted the cheaper price? It was within the lunch timeso I don't understand why we would have to specify the price we wanted. It was just a little weird to me. The food was allgood though. Read more

The waiter was very nice but that's about where our good experience ended. There were a lot of fruit flies, the menu was dirty... and sticky. The appetizers we ordered were not as described in the menu and the shrimp we got was undercooked and not deveined. The rest of the meat was over cooked and tough. There was also a leak in the ceiling and not one wet floor sign out to warnanyone. We were going to leave after the appetizers but wanted to give the place the benefit of the doubt since we heard goodthings. Overall we didn't enjoy our first experience and will not be going back. I don't think it's worth what we paid. Read more

Used to be good but not anymore. Rice-Tasted old and was just warm. Salad-Was like soup 2 out of 3 sushi rolls were... wrong. Soup-only broth with no tofu or seaweed Food-In general was mediocre Staff was in no rush to serve us and we were theonly ones in the restaurant. Gratuity- Automatically added into the bill....not cool. Everything felt wrong about our meal andwe left with $100 less in our pockets Lesson learned.....going to another restuarant next time. Don't eat at thisrestaurant! DON'T DO IT.TRY ANOTHER Read more

This was our first time at Genji. There were a few hits and misses. Loved the miso soup, the salad with carrot ginger dressing... was something I had never tasted before, loved it. But there was also some confusion, the hibachi chef who was supposed to cometo our table was sent to the adjacent, due to which everyone at our table had to keep waiting and that caused some delay.(Almost an hour) Although, I must mention, our attendant was a very attentive and a lovely person, she kept apologizing for theinconvenience, which is fine, as this was no fault of hers. I had the Saginaw signature sushi roll, I perhaps would have enjoyedit more had it been done differently. The shrimp was undercooked and gave away the dish for me, I had asked our server if theshrimp would be raw or cooked, and I was told it would be cooked. On the up side, my husband enjoyed his hibachi grill. Sincethere were only 5 people at our table, the chef seemed to be in a rush, no fancy tricks or funny banter for us :( was reallykinda looking forward to it as that kind of encompasses the whole hibachi experience. We ended with their dessert which was likea mixed sorbet of sorts, I liked it. Read more

The staff was great. Chef was awesome. Good was tasty. A little pricey. They factor the tip into your bill before they bring it.... I don't care for that. Read more
