Found a great Persian food place in St. James. Basil Cafe had great tasting food that was freshly prepared in an open kitchen... setting. I watched the chef meticulously prepare the dishes, helped by the owner when he had the chance. The NE Clam Chowderwas very good as was the lamb shank. Finished the meal with an apple blossom dessert. The staff was attentive, friendly, andvery helpful. They have a nice outdoor garden seating area in the back. Food was fine but the prices were absolutely ridiculous. I?m not making this up these little burnt shriveled up pieces of... asparagus cost nine dollars! They couldn?t even halfway fill the takeout container. What a rip off! Read more
I had my daughter?s bridal shower at Basil. The outdoor deck was the perfect venue. People raved about the food and the service... was excellent. Chef Ray and his wife, Ari were amazing to work with. They treated us like family. Read more
Disappointed in this place went to lunch the appetizers we wanted were not ready yet so we were not able to order them according... to the waitress. The salads we got with the grilled chicken were not good at all. One and done place and a little pricey for asmall salad with chicken, will not return. Read more
This was our first visit to Basil's and it won't be our last. The food and service was excellent. We had 2 appetizers sautéed... eggplant and pita for 6. My main dish was zereshk polo. It was delicious. They have an outside area in the back that opens inwarmer weather that is very nice. Read more
I would like to thank you for the pleasant service and delicious food. The owners are so nice and it was such a great... evening! Today my friends and I had dinner together. Our choice for dinner: - Sauteed Eggplant, topped with crushed walnuts andcaramelized onion with pita bread. -Zereshk Polo and Zereshk Polo with tofu. I took a small piece of tofu to try and the tastepleasantly surprised me, it was delicious! My vegetarian friend also really liked it. - Basil Special (a combination of Joojeh &Barg) it was my choice, and It was very tasty! If you are very hungry, I recommend choosing this dish. We also ordered dessert,but only one for all, because we were full and there was almost no room for dessert. It was Apple Blossom with ice cream!Yummy! Amazing little cute restaurant with delicious food. They only have a few tables so definitely make your reservations beforehand.... We paid about $50 per person and the food was great. Perfect place for a date night. Read more
