Great home cooked southern cuisine with a very rustic atmosphere. Excellent service. It really takes you back many decades... which is very nice change in today's times. On Sundays they have a wonderful buffet with so many things to choose from, and alsohand carved and served prime rib at the end. Whether your visiting St. Simon's or a local resident, I would highly recommendmaking this a must see and experience location. You won't regret it. Read more
We enjoyed our time at Bennie's Red Barn. The food was delicious and our service was fabulous. Our female waitress was tops! She... was very efficient and friendly. We also had one of the men come over and sing for us! He is so kind and has a beautiful voice!We always love coming here. It is a great family place! Read more

Experience from the waiter/waitress/manager were all unacceptable. Had an issue where the bill did not add up to the subtotal,... we pointed it out and it came out to be the modifiers to the meals that were the difference however they got the modifiers wrongon the bills, it was terrible experience and no apology from the Manager and she didn't come out until the very end to explainwhat happened..then tried to offer us $2 in cash to try to make us happy... just terrible and highly do not recommend ???? First off food was great, except small portions. Brought me 6 steak fries for a side. 6 piece shrimp appetizers over $10 each.... We were seated without a reservation. Chose this place as the only restaurant we ate the 5 days we were there as we are a largefamily with 6 kids. My parents ate with us as well on separate tickets. 4 kids meals and 4 steak meals were $192. Steak wasgreat. Then the surprise....at the bottom of my ticket, a service charge of over $40, with the waiter stating we have to paythat tip for him to split with employees, and anything more than that goes straight to him. And my dad's ticket had $25 servicecharge on his $95 dollar bill making it $120. We're a large family but was never told this. We very well would've tipped Thomasgreatly as he was an amazing server. When my wife spoke to owner, she had a nasty attitude about it. And said there was manyother restaurants we could've ate at. That is not very professional. So they made us tip the staff $65, and wanted us to tip ourwaiter more. I've never been to a restaurant that made you pay a certain tip. The owner was very rude and sarcastic. We have towatch what we spend as we have 6 kids We're raising, so we were so excited about getting to eat somewhere nice. But it was amajor disappointment. As mentioned steak was great, salad horrible, serving size horrible for the price. Shoutout to Thomasthough, bc he was really a great waiter. Very upset with them making us pay a 20% tip and still expecting more. We will take theowners advice next time and will definitely eat at one of the other many places on the island Read more
We had the Sunday lunch buffet at Bennies and it was incredible! The buffet is huge and has a little of everything. The... vegetables were great but the free fish and prime rib were the highlight of my meal. The price point is fair so definitely worthit! Read more
Very popular restaurant on St Simons Island GA. Has quite a history going back to 1954. Large, large barn building with abundant... seating capacity for large groups to sit together on long tables. Beautiful twin chandeliers hang high above a large seatingspace. More seating at wing areas on both sides. Has a nice bar and even an adjoining room with more space. The staff wasfriendly and overall presented in a nice atmosphere with the special flavor of the barn structure. The food was carefullyprepared and would meet or exceed most expectations. I had the seafood combo which was excellent, wife had steak which also wasflavorful and cooked exactly to her liking. For us, a nice rustic setting inside was a great atmosphere for dining. We had shrimp and the seafood combo, although I traded... my oysters for shrimp/scallops. Easy, flavorful breading on everything that didn't overwhelm the food. The food was hot andplentiful. I did make a killing on the yeast rolls they serve and paid the price by getting too full, too fast. I was lookingforward to the chocolate derby pecan pie but they were out. They did have pecan pie and it was very good. I was so full I neededthe carriage to take me home! Read more
