I love food, to the level where I plan all my travel meals in advance. Ledger DID NOT disappoint. In fact, it is a meal I will... dream about. I don’t know how they made a humble cabbage or green beans so spectacular. They were charred and infused with asmoky flavor but still tender. Even my vegetable hating husband loved them! The chicken is not something I would typicallyorder but the waitress raved about it. She wasn’t wrong. This is not they type of chicken you’re preparing at home. And thepopovers are a must. Service was attentive and the atmosphere (former bank with vault and safe deposit boxes) was a vibe. I’dcome back to Salem just to eat here again. Read more
The Ledger was our absolute favorite stop during our trip to Salem! Hands down the best meal I've ever had, the atmosphere was... wonderful, the building was beautiful (I loved how they played on the fact that the building used to be a bank) and the customerservice was the best! Had the best time hosting my baby shower at The Ledger. The food/cake/donut display was all absolutely amazing and the Macomber... room is just stunning. Ashleigh was a great event planner and super helpful throughout the whole process. I also want to givea huge thank you to Maura and Oscar who went above and beyond for us during the baby shower. We had so much fun with you andappreciate you both so much. Would 1000% host another event here in the future! 10/10 recommend! Read more
Ledger has phenomenal food! A small but succinct menu at a high but fair price, everyone was satisfied with their dishes. The... venue is very cool; everything is bank related right down to the safety deposit boxes used as separators for tables. This wouldhave been a 5 star rating but the espresso martini was easily the worst I've ever had. It was sedimentated within the 30 secondsI had received it (pictured). Other than that, great place. While we had seafood for almost every meal while in MA, locals suggested the beef tartar at Ledger and we had to go for a night... cap. Incredible drinks, the beef tartar was like butter, could not get enough of the popovers and while the carrot cakeattempted to be the star of the night, the smoked carrot appetizer won and I'm still dreaming about them. A wonderful fine dining experience, in a beautiful historic building featuring some of the freshest, and best food Salem has to... offer. Seasonal menu and drink changes. The food has layer after layer of both flavor and texture. It is finely crafted by aculinary team which clearly pride themselves on creativity and quality. My wife and I first attended the Ledger before thepandemic during Salem's restaurant week. We were blown away. This most recent visit was for our 3rd wedding anniversary. Thestaff is so enthusiastic and kind. We mentioned a single time we were on our anniversary in a conversation while our server wasnot around, but somehow, they were clued in. At dessert time, we were given two glasses of Moscato on the house. We took twodesserts home, both wonderful. While the Ledger is on the more expensive side, I do not think their prices are unreasonable. Itis certainly worth the visit every time. Highly recommended, they always find a way to go above and beyond when we visit, if itis a special occasion or not. Read more
Came up for the day to enjoy the Halloween festivities in Salem and wanted a truly overall great day experience of food and fun.... Let me just say everything I ordered from cocktails to food... was a mouthwatering experience truly! I was so impressed thateverything was cooked perfectly and packed with savory flavors regardless of how busy it was. All tables had reservations so wejust waited for bar seating and were quickly seated 15mins later. I ordered the Bloody Mary to start with a freshly cooked hotto order Old Fashioned Donut, ordered the Pork Belly & Grits (taste bud explosion of goodness) with sweet & salty flavorsequally balanced and tried sampled some of the Chicken & Waffles which were amazing! I'd come back to Salem just for the brunchalone. The service was great! Shawn the bartender was awesome and made me a tequila cocktail with a couple of favoriteingredients that were not on the menu and just provided overall exceptional service to us. Sydney also behind the bar made greatfood recommendations after I was struggling to decide on something because all the dishes brought out all looked so good! September 2022: The restaurant is located in downtown Salem and has a very nice outdoor patio for safe pandemic time dining. It... also lets you people watch the interesting visitors dressed to impress. I had tuna tartare and duck breast. They were bothokay, but not outstanding. Tuna was not as flavorful as I hoped, and the duck was smoked, which is not my favorite flavor. Thepresentation was beautiful, and the service was excellent. The star of the dinner were popovers. Every table had an order ofthem. The bathrooms are shared with the restaurant next door so very crowded. Read more
