Black bear diner has a full menu, big portions, and serves breakfast all day... which is why I came today- breakfast at 3pm on a... Sunday. The workers were kind and polite. My waitress was very helpful and recommended some chili cheese fries instead of loadedfries, which turned out to be the best decision I made all week. Chili cheese fries: chili was flavorful and meaty. Cheese wasmelted. And ordered a side of sour cream for added flavor. Blackberry filled bearclaw French toast: this was absolutelyamazing. Not too sweet but I added warm syrup to satisfy my sweet tooth. The bowl of fruit was also ripe anddelicious. Everything was perfectly cooked and plated. Party of 7. My 1st time at this location.Visiting with my family hanging out shopping.We was seated in the backroom which was... fine with us away from the crowds upfront. No social distant going on in the front of the resturant. People were sitting elbowto elbow at the counter seating and back to back in the side booths????????Utensils were not clean. Had to request for newones.I ordered a spinach and onion Omelet. Omelet wasn't fully cooked. It look pretty on the plate until I cut it open and theirwas about 1 table spoon of grease underneath. My sister's steak was well done (dry as a cracker)????when she specificallyrequested medium well. Waiter wasn't attentive and didn't properly check on us. Honestly we thought the Black Bear diner inEmeryville was the worst..nahh these two neck to neck. Wassup with these Cooks at these corporate restaurants. What happened tomaking people food how you would want yours?The service was bad overall. We left feeling like we wasted money ????. We loved the banana cream pie dessert. It has the right amount of sweetness! However the cleanliness of our table close by the... restroom was not what we expected, dirty. A waiter wiped down the table but he left the mess on the seats as well as missedspots. The person seating us was busy with other duties rather than focusing on the customer to be seated. The restroom wasanother story in itself. As gloomy as it was inside from the lack of lighting, if you choose to use the men?s restroom beware.The standup urinal is directly next to the sit down stall and you can see them as clearly as they can see your business. Goodthing there was no one present. Overall was a 2 of 5 stars because the service was lacking communication between each other,cleanliness not being there, restroom not being inviting. 5 stars because it is well deserved. The only negative is that their POS system was down so it?s cash only. But... nevertheless?that doesn?t deter the 5 stars. Dante was our server. GREAT service. Attentive! Honest when he said we could easilyshare our meal because IT WAS HUGE! They split it in the back and even then there was too much food for me!! (Pic is AFTER wesplit it and I gave half of my half to my husband! Lol!!) We dined on the Country Fried Steak and it was DELICIOUS!! Thebiscuits and gravy were fluffy and melt in your mouth!!
