Nice place. Didn't get to check out all of it. Looks like there's an upstairs area but was dark. The place is a college student... hang out out it seems. I wasnt aware I was next to UTSA. Lol In SA for work, was looking for a good burger. Burger & beer weregood. Service a tad slow but still a nice place. Won't be going back though. I'm to old to be hanging out in a college haunt. Water down drinks. I ordered 4 drinks, for each of my friends, each with different types of liquor. All tasted only like the... fruit flavored. None actually tasted like alcohol even though we saw them pouring from the bottles. I asked other ppl in the barhow were their drinks, and it was the same result. None tasted like alcohol. Be aware y?all the drinks are weaker than weak (Iordered all my drinks upstairs cuz the bar down stairs was packed btw). They charged $10 for entry on Saturday and the dj wasn?tgood. Pretty cool place to hang out at with a group of friends. Glad we got there early because the place was packed by 9:45! I... normally shy away from places down UTSA Blvd because the crowds can get out of hand, but with the indoor and outdoor seating, itwas actually pretty well managed. Drinks weren't bad; didn't get a chance to try the food, but we were there for a birthday, sothe shots were the priority ???? Would definitely recommend as a starter for a night out ???? Read more
Let me start of by saying i havent been to sandbox since covid and all though it is a good college bar i will not be going back.... My problem all come with the bar tenders. If i ask you to squeeze limes into my drink you are charging me a convenience feebecause you dont want to or is it that much of a hassle For you. If it is give me a cup of limes and ill do it myself . Veryridiculous i have been to better bars that a convenience charge would never be applied for making you fo Your Job. The nextissues comes frim your bartender Maggie I believe she said Was her name. I was waiting to get a drink and she kept ignoring herecomes a male out of nowhere and she takes his Order. Then another teo Males come and they tell her she needs to order and shewalks Away? then she comes back To help the two males until i tell her i again for thr third time i was there. I get it maybeyou think your tips comes from males but for my age which i am not a college student my money is just as good as any Male thereand there would of been a 20%tip? shame on you maggie its females like you that make us women look bad? Great college club, first time? great music.. clean restrooms , great drinks, you need to rsvp booths, bday party... accommodations. Liquor bottles rsvp party booth, you get announced over the mic while the girls light up the way to your boothwith your bottle of choice. Read more
While there are absolutely same great bartenders like Chi and Katie, the vast majority of my experiences at this bar have left... an awful taste in my mouth (sometimes literally). Some bartenders will cluelessly make a mixed drink and pour alcohol into itlike they're trying to sterilize your cup. It can be a gamble depending on who makes your drink, and honestly even then theymake something seemingly different for you every time. The food is good, their chef Andy is respectable. The issue is thebartenders are seemingly just hired for their looks. They'll stand around on their phones or talking to one another aboutcustomers while the bar is full and people are waiting for drinks. Drinks are also not on the cheap side. Read more
