Reviews for Burma Ruby Burmese Cuisine in San Carlos, CA

Rangoon Ruby is a bit of an anomaly. The interior exudes of something that pushes it to be higher end, but in a "Western" way... while the food obviously is Burmese/Thai. Now that's okay... to be a fancy high-end Asian cuisine. Unfortunately, the quality ofthe food doesn't support it. The chicken comes in like flakes of cardboard. While the paratas were tasty, the lamb dip wassimply washed out. The eggplant dish was surprisingly the saving grace. But again, one dish being tasty out of many simplydoesn't live up to the caliber of the facade. If it wasn't for the kind waiter, I would've dropped the review to a 2-star. Abit disappointing and a bummer that they couldn't live up to the expected quality. Read more

It was my first time to eat Burmese food and it was quite good. It's sort of similar to Indian food but still a little... different. I liked the curry lamb. Read more

Ordered this location for catering to the office and everyone absolutely loved the food. Beef and chicken were tender, walnut... shrimp were large sized, garlic noodles was nice as well. Fiery tofu and vegetables (green beans) and garlic eggplant wereextremely popular choices. A must have favorite for the office. Catering portions are definitely a little smaller than theclaimed headcount, be prepared to order quite a bit extra compared to the claimed headcount. Read more

I ordered Tea Leaf Salad and Burmese Pad Thai with tofu via DoorDash on June 7, 2022. I am so disappointed that I paid nearly... $16 for no tea leaf "Tea Leaf Salad" (see photo) and the $17 Burmese Pad Thai with tofu (which tasted like it was from Trader'sJoe's teriyaki tofu) really disappointed. No, I am angry. I was willing to overlook the extremely priced meal, but not having akey ingredient really infuriates me. Hence, this review. I will never order from here again. Read more

We liked the food options. Ordered vegetarian and non vegetarian starters and main dishes. Didn't order any dessert though as we... had desserts at fisherman's wharf earlier. The tofu and the chicken preparations were good and so were the samosas. We orderedmedium spicy but still it wasn't very spicy. Could have easily gone for the highest spicy version. Read more

Went here for dinner and at 6, we were the only ones there. We ordered a lot of food - bowls of Jasmine rice, Mango Chicken,... Garlic Noodles, Burmese Pad Thai, Yellow Tofu in Red Curry and ended with a Coconut Pudding. Mango Chicken was sweet - expectedit to be tangy. The Pad Thai and Red Curry base were the same. The Banana Pudding however was interesting. We ordered it withvanilla ice cream and it was awesome. Will come back for more. Read more

Used to love the place but not anymore. Their samosas are still good but rest of the good quality and service quality went down.

We got the garlic noodles- excellent. Lemongrass Chicken- excellent. Chicken Crispy- my son said was great. Jasmine rice was... done perfectly! Can’t wait to explore more of their menu! Slightly pricey, but the portions & flavor make up for it! Read more
