I have been here a couple of times over the years. Today was the visit that really made me review this establishment. The wait... was less than 5 minutes on a Monday lunch hour. Was served chips and salsa along the drinks in no time but the food did take alittle longer than expected, although the food made up for the time. The Caldo Norteño was super good and served in a bigbowl. (Large). They have many options for dessert and I opted for the Tres Leches, it’s one of the best around. I’ll beback to try more options. My first time in San Diego and wanted to try something authentic. The place was nice and quiet. The serves were and courteous.... The food was good but needed a bit of salt. I was expecting a lot more flavor from this restaurant because of the location.Overall a very good experience. Read more
Like a fancier Mexican Denny’s. Breakfast and lunch and dinner items available. The lunch deals are incredible. Nine dollars... for enchilada combo! We got one with the chipotle sauce and another with the mole sauce. The latter being sort of a sweet andsour, chocolate flavor. The enchiladas were a 7/10, beans 7/10, rice 6/10. We ordered Tampiquena Rib Eye, Tampiquena Flap Meat, Pollo en chipotle, their signature coffee "Cafe de la olla" and a Huge... piece of carrot cake w/ice cream for dessert. Each Tampiquena comes with a cheese enchilada, refried beans, guacamole and flourtortillas. The Pollo en chipotle comes with rice and vegetables. All three meals, were enjoyed by all. I gave it 4 stars, onlybecause my daughter thought her meal wasn't as hot as she likes. She likes the enchilada cheese melted and gooey. To me, theflavor and service is what matters the most.
