It is really hard to tell from the 2 food menus, but we asked the waitress to explain to us - now MOST the menu is vegan but they have a page that is real raw fish (sashimi, rolls. Etc) which is ?made in a separate kitchen.? It would be really helpful for vegans if the fake fish items were labeled as such on the menu because they are spelled normally with no quotation marks/labels so we still questioned what was real or imitation, or vegan (?imitation crab? usually spelled Krab on menus, for example is still a fish product so sushi is tricky). I understand a lot of the confusion that other reviews mention but this is fixable with menu edits! The shishito peppers were delicious! Presentation is very nice. There was a huge cockroach on the floor but I do see them in this neighborhood.
Nice vegan sushi spot. It?s not very apparent that they are actually vegan. It?s a little bit over priced though
I really enjoyed this vegan sushi place (this is vegan, even if the website or menu doesn't explicitly say so). Great tempura, and all the sushi we tried tasted amazing, with very interesting flavors. Good presentation and service as well.
Exceptional experience that surpassed any expectations that I could?ve had. As someone who is NOT a vegetarian/vegan, only about half-way though our meal did I realize that our food was vegetarian. As an avid sushi eater in my hometown, I initially thought this sushi as top grade. After hearing that our sushi was vegetarian, I was blown away? The tasting experience is not only one that I would encourage everyone to try, but one that I would happily recommend to all of my fiends & family. 10/10 would recommend ??
I loved eating at Now Sushi. The lettuce wraps were delicious! The Gyoza were the bomb! Very friendly servers. Even got a chance to speak with the owners and some regular customers. Can?t wait to come back soon.
Can't call yourself a sushi restaurant without making real sushi there is no signage, the menu is misleading cruelty free fish? I thought maybe it meant the fish are caught in a more ethical way but there is no fish at all. What you do get is sloppy rolls that are not tasting good the place is dirty all the wait staff is rude and has a chip on their shoulder. I hope this place goes out of business. The owner's response tells it all, childlike insults calling me an angry human? I am very calm. I'm not angry at all. If you're going to charge as much as you are for your fake sushi at least make sure it is the best fake sushi, terrible service and sloppy rolls and food that taste weird? Dirty restaurant. The moral superiority that these vegan types always have in regards to eating animal products so if you want to have a sushi restaurant that's animal free why don't you just call your rolls imitation salmon made out of tomato or whatever substitutes all the rolls are named after real fish rolls like yellowtail tuna roll or salmon skin roll or whatever it may be. Call it what it really is so there is no confusion it's like they enjoy tricking people into coming to their fake sushi place. I'm sure there are plenty of vegan sushi restaurants that concentrate on the best possible vegan "sushi". Quality ingredients good service and a clean restaurant this is just not one of them. Here's the owner's response in quotes so you can see what I'm talking about. "Calm down I don?t know who put you in a bad mood but it sounds like you are really unhappy about life. Anger human, not a good look for you young sir. Why can?t you just be thankful you live in a free country and actually have food and money when most of the world doesn?t even have a bite of food to eat. Selfish angry human."
Speechless and extremely impressed by this restaurant. We are in town and found this while searching for vegan restaurants before visiting this was on our list to try. The only thing I regret is not coming sooner! Everything was on point especially textures and even colors. We had to order more food because it was so delicious. We haven?t had sushi since going vegan years ago and this made our entire trip. Bad for other restaurants because it raises our expectations. I?m just blown away. Even if you?re not vegan this is a must try you won?t even know the difference. Everything was fabulous and delicious. I can?t stress how amazing everything was. Priced like regular sushi but time and effort for prep is expected. May leave over stuffed because you can?t put your chopsticks down!
A great cause for veganism but truly way too much rice! I'm okay with spending extra money on vegan sushi but for how much rice compared to other ingredients was not worth the price to me which was about $17 per roll. Could use a better variety of sauces on the rolls. But still tasty and great service!
