Definitely worth a try. The atmosphere was kind of fun. I like that you have the option of sitting in the bar with full service... or choosing the area that's more self serve. There is also an outside covered porch to enjoy your meal. Restrooms are clean, open hand washing station, to go utensils packs, hand wipes; they have you ready for messy fingers! Read more

Visited Phil's BBQ 7 years ago and immediately became my favorite! So, when our family went down to San Diego area, it was on my... #1 must-to-eat list. My hubby was skeptical at first but he is a fan now! We went for super late lunch around 4:30pm aftervisiting Safari Zoo and it was pretty quiet. We opted to sit at the outdoor porch with covering since it was pretty hot thatday. We ordered half baby back ribs dinner with fries & coleslaw. We added pull pork to our meal since we were starving. Theorder came out pretty fast in about 10 minutes. The portion was pretty big and we were stuffed by the end of the meal. - babyback ribs: perfectly cooked & tender meat. The sauce was sweet & tangy (chef kiss!!!). - pull pork: has the same delicious sauceas the baby back ribs. The meat was still tender (not dried out). It was goooood! - fries: good - crispy and not too salty. -coleslaw: good - creamy & crunchy. But I like my coleslaw a tad sweeter Hubby wanted to come back during our trip butunfortunately, we didn't have time. He said that we must come back when we go to San Diego next time. Read more

Decent BBQ for the portion. Some meat and side dishes are a hit or miss but the pork and beef ribs were very good. Brisket is... dry and not good. Cole slaw also, not good. Potato salad is decent but the chicken was too dry!! Get the ribs if you?rehere. Ok portion for the price but it seems like the portion is based off of the side dishes and not the meat itself. Wishedthey also had a smaller portion of the cornbread. $10 for a whole pan which we were too full for. Big building with plenty ofindoor and outdoor eating area with a separate area for bars. Would come back for the pork ribs! Read more

Excellent location, never a line and same amazing Phil's fall off the bone level BBQ. Can't get enough of Phil's BBQ baby back... ribs, had a full rib dinner with steamed veggies and baked beans. Friends shared another full rib, with fries and also tried theloaded fries (tri tip shavings)... Absolute amazing loaded fries. Definitely recommend a plastic bin, and stay off the soda.Left with a full heart and full tummy, and a oncoming case of the ITIS (IFYKYK). 10/10 would recommend this BBQ joint and thislocation for families! Decent BBQ but not great. I had a Tri-tip sandwich for $11 and it tasted more like sliced pork and did not come with any sides.... Staff was extremely friendly and wore face masks ????. Read more

1st time to Phil's BBQ. Great BBQ food. We got the family meal which included ribs, sausage, and chicken. Very generous... portions. Cornbread was average nothing too special. Food came pretty quick. Dining room packed with people, with this popularplace. Can't wait to go back next time I'm in Southern Cal. Read more
