I ???? LOVED MY VISIT TO RED O'. The food was extremely tasty and unique. Everything was simply delicious. Everything tasted... homemade....nothing mass-produced. The rice and beans were served separately on another plate, while my delicious lobster shrimpcorn chili relleno was first-rate. The chips and salsa were also fabulous. I even took an order home with me. In summary, I planto return very soon, as there is so much I want to sample. Our waitress was very attentive to our every request. My birthday isjust around the corner, and I've alerted my significant other that this is where I want to come. I was too full to try dessert, and I've heard that the flan is delicious. Keep up the good work! WE'LL BE BACK!! Read more

We had heard a pretty bad review of this place, which was that someone we know arrived and immediately was asked if she wanted... guacamole, so she said yes, basically hoodwinking her because she thought he was offering it but it actually cost her $16. Thenshe asked for a drink and the server asked if she would like it with a particular alcohol, so she said yes, again hoodwinkingher because that was not the house alcohol and was an upcharge. So we went in suspect of that behavior. Our experience wasactually very good. We got sat in a big booth when it was just us two, and we were surprised but flattered to get such niceseating. We had like three servers taking care of us, with one main one, which was a good way to delegate the work at therestaurant. We had a great meal that came out super fast, and they immediately corrected a mistake from the kitchen without evenbeing reminded and came out with another plate. At the end we said we wanted one particular dessert, and our server asked usabout getting the cheesecake, and we were like well okay. He ended up bringing both desserts out, the original one with a sweetHappy Birthday in chocolate on it and the cheesecake. Rather than our friend’s experience with the blind upselling, it didseem genuine and it was actually really sweet. We enjoyed the whole experience and will be back soon. Read more

Came here for brunch this morning and I was pleasantly surprised. I've been to the Red O in fashion island and it's always crazy... busy, but thankfully this one was a little calmer and they were able to seat us quickly. The brunch options were awesome andevery single one of us loved their meal. The hangover burrito was delicious! Will definitely be coming here for brunch again! Read more

Youre paying for the fine dining brand name. I have heard alot of this place, good things to mainly on how fancy it is. But... thats how the food is. Good presentation but really no flavor. I had the famed empanadas and some fish tacos. I know, i know, ididnt go for their flagship items but still, it nust be hard to screw up the little leagues. Well, thats how it was. Thebattered fish tacos were like eating styrofoam. The flavor came from the sauces which shouldnt be. The tortilla was the for anamerican palate and nothing like what "taste of mexico" should. The empanadas were better but nothing amazing. Average. The meatinside was like mushy but stringy. Like a pate with meat threads. Honestly, i am glad i did not buy their 75/100 plates. Icould go buy steaks and lobster elsewhere or even make it myself. I did order a tiny 7dollar desert wine. It was cute and sweet. But i got a taste so thats that. Their 2 stars are for the waiter. He was amazing. Very good at multitasking and making you feelwelcome. He was not much older than the rest of the young staff, but you could tell he was a lead or superior. He alone coukdearn the place reputation. Back to the food; I dont really recommend these kind of places unless in old town. I can handlemediocre mexican food in old town because its alot cheaper making it better! Read more

Terrible. I wouldn't even come back if the prices were more in line with hole in the wall Mexican places. Bayliss' restaurant in... Chicago is actually good, but he must be banking on his name to swindle people here who don't know any better. This place isn'tgood and it's pathetic he's willing to let this be associated with his name. The biggest disappointment are the churros, whichare dense and horrible compared to the fluffy confections in his Chicago restaurant. The only reason it's still solvent is thatSan Diego is an even more ignorant big city than Chicago when it comes to food. Read more
