We have been buying sushi here for a long time now but since the place is small, we had never really dined in. We have always... just ordered to-go. In addition to that, my husband has always been the one to place the order for us. Well, today I had themisfortune of placing the order myself and was greeted by kind people behind the bar (the guys making the sushi) but when Iwent to actually place the order I swear I almost didn't. The waitress was so rude. For starters, she didn't even offer me amenu and so I went off the top of my head. I asked for extra sauce on a teriyaki bowl and she said "you'll just pay extra forthat." I said okay and mentioned that sometimes it has very little and sometimes a lot. She replied with well you will get it ina container on the side, but in a condescending manner! The amount of attitude I got from her in the 2 minutes it took me toorder was enough for me reconsider me ever going back. Turns out she is always like this, even over the phone. The food isgreat, and it makes me sad to say this but I really don't know that we will be going back after this. We spend more than$50/visit regularly at this location. Another reviewer said it perfectly. This person is "running this place to the ground" andpushing away even the most loyal customers with her poor people skills. And in case anyone needs clarification her name isTeresa. All the other employees there have been perfectly nice and accommodating. Read more

Good sz rolls for the price. Wish there were more vegan / veggie rolls, but happy they had the 4? options they had.

This was my first time here and I must say, as someone who loves trying new sushi places to find the best deals for my money,... this one has prob landednin my top 3. The quality of food was great as well as the pricing. I ordered the lunch special and Iwalked out of this place full, which usually only happens after a ton of rolls, I will be coming back here for sure!!! Read more

Good sushi in an awesome atmosphere. Reggae always playing, lots of Bob Marley and reggae decor. Clever names for their rolls.... During happy hour, you can get an app for $2 with beer or sake purchase. Read more

I always love stopping by for lunch when I'm in San Diego. They've expanded, but it's still a pretty small place. I love the... Sushi Roll Combos. They are around $14-$18.00 & include 12-18 pieces of 4 different rolls. That's a great price and you get totry a few different rolls that you would not normally order. The food is super good, but Summer is rolling in. They didn't seemto be using the AC on the day I was there. But I powered through. Read more

Prices are good for decent/passable sushi if you want something casual. If you're looking for quality fish and diverse flavor... though, don't let the high ratings fool you -- it's not a "must try" or even among the best in San Diego. Quality-wise it's likea great "fast food" version of sushi rolls. This isn't like a high-end/fancy date night spot, but good for a quick fix ifyou're craving and in a pinch. I'm not sure how this place got such high ratings lol Read more

The first time we came here was two years ago for dinner and absolutely loved their rolls. This place is small and gets really... really busy. (Photos posted from ore-pandemic). We decided to visit this place again during lunch. I was disappointed to seethat dine-in will start June 1st so we had no choice but to order take out. I ordered the lunch special. You get to pick oneitem from section A and one from section B. It comes with rice and salad, no soup. I picked chicken katsu and a spicy jawaiianroll ($11.95). Lunch special prices varies depending on what item you get. My bf got the spam fried rice ($5.95), spicy garlicedamame ($4.95) and mixed tempura ($6.95). My salad was plain, no dressing. Good thing I had some at home. The sushi roll wasnot good. Inside was spicy tuna, outside was seared smoke salmon, avocado, spicy Mayo, eel sauce and cheese. I said no tocheese. The avocado was missing. Maybe the cheese would have made it better? It left a gasoline flavor in my mouth from theseared salmon. I don?t think the salmon was fresh either and the pieces was way too thick. I only had 2 out of the 8 pieces andhad to stop. The chicken katsu was like over cooked. The breading was a bit crispy but inside was like chewy mush. Kind of likethey over pounded the meat. No flavor. I had to dip in the sushi soy sauce. Same thing with mixed tempura. I usually love sweetpotatoes and pumpkin. Maybe it wasn?t in season but it wasn?t sweet. The batter had no seasoning to it. The only items thattasted decent was the spicy garlic edamame and spam fried rice. I like how they used plastic wrap to wrap the entire box toprevent the garlic sauce from spilling. Plenty of parking in this plaza but this restaurant is tiny so get here early when youdecide to dine in. I?ve also been to Sushi Diner 1 in Linda Vista and absolutely enjoyed the food. Something was extremely offtoday. Read more
