"El Abuelo" is an excellent restaurant with good food and a familiar atmosphere. The food has the appearance and taste of being... homemade, not only being inspired by Mexico, but having a taste mimicking the flavors of Mexico exactly. Such a homey and quaint little place. The customer service was great. Honestly such great waiters. I also loved the sayings in... the back of the employees t-shirts. Unfortunately, the food did not match the quality of its employees. I ordered the potatotacos and they tasted like old grease. The potato was so bland I had to pour a ton of salsa over the tacos to mask the oldgrease flavor and give the potatoes some flavor as well. The beans tasted and smelled like eggs. I had a terrible experience here. I took a few of my friends here because the last time I was there we had a great time. But... this time around was definitely not good. To start they forgot one of my friends food and my tortillas. Almost 5min later theydrop off his food but not my tortillas. I keep raising my hand so the woman attending to us can come over so I could remind hershe hasn't brought my tortillas. Both ladies looked like they are walking around with blinders. Finally I get her attention andI remind her about my tortillas Almost 10min later she brings them and has the Audacity to make fun of me for raising my handmultiple times to the other server, How rude is that. After she failed to do her job. What a joke. They forgot to bring mycoke and my Chile's toriados after I reminded her 3 times. Food is ok but the service can definitely improve. And to top it offmy friend had to get up from the table to get a Box to go because 10min went by and nobody brought his box. If I was you, Iwould stay away. Read more

Usually it's all good including the service. The chips were cold and old. I asked for fresh chips and this bothered the... waitress in so she took the basket to the counter asking but telling the gentleman at the counter "you made these this morning, right?" It was 10:30am. She brought out a second batch which was definitely made in the morning. Our meal arrived and the ricewas not fully cooked. It was hard and chewy. My family and I usually go there to eat often. We love the food but yesterday one of the waitress rush to our table and said... said are you done? We were almost done, I was still eating a tortilla and my mother-in-law was starting to have her drink. Shetold us when picking up our plates seeing that we were not done told us thank you for coming, I am asking you to leave becausewe have people waiting. We were still at the table when she started cleaning the table. I understand people are waiting. I havewaited for an hour for a table which I know they get really busy in the weekends. We where not going to stay we just wanted tofinish our food and drinks. I am not there for free I am paying for the service. So, we won?t be going back anymore. She wasrude. Read more

This place was such a dissapointment. I like to support local restaurants but El Abuelo needs help. The huevos con machaca were... tasteless. They had no flavor whatsoever. I had to put salsa, salt, and pepper to make it somewhat okay to eat. My daughter'seggs had a hair in it. I had to ask the waitress several times for things that we needed and for things they forgot, such assugar for the coffee, condiments, coffee refill, water, tortillas they forgot. They brought my daughter's tortillas after shefinished her meal. This place needs better authentic Mexican flavor, more staff, and better management. Read more

Im a local that lives here in the valley. Last time coming here. Place is not worth it. Canned beans and plain rice tasteless. ... The mole no flavor. Basic service. Made us wait and seats available. Everyone choose where to sit and no waiting. Not surewhy. This is place empty for a Friday night i should of known. This is what happens when a business doesn't care anymore theyjust try to hang on. I have been here a few times and the one that catches my attention the most is cesar so this review is for him. he's an... extremely attentive waiter and is very respectful. Today I went with my mom her husband and my boyfriend and he noticed ourtable wasn't attended yet after one of the waiters said she'll be back. (no chips or salsa for 15 minutes) and he immediatelybrought us drinks and refills when needed. I can tell he's an extremely hard worker I would recommend him to attend your table.But one thing I should say which our table had a huge laugh. My moms eggs were not cooked the way she wanted them only one sidewas cooked and the other was raw so we kindly asked the Waiter (short girl , didn't get her name) to take her plate to flip theegg they LEGIT flipped the egg over on the plate and didn't actually cook it so my mom flipped it back over and it was the same.We had a great laugh. I'm sure they were confused as to what my mom had asked but overall the service there is great butsometimes it can be a hit or miss. But 5 stars for Cesar great worker ???? Read more
