When you feel the urge to eat Indian food in San Francisco, you should visit Amber. The spread is huge for just $28 PP. Only I... didn't like the sweet dish options as it was cold as compared to the kheer which I like it hot. But overall great place to eat???? Read more

Really good meal. Had the butter chicken as they claim it is their specialty and it did not disappoint. Also had the saag... paneer which was cooked perfectly. Finished with the pistachio kulfi which was also nice and then the one disappointment of themeal - the masala chai. I love chai but this one fell flat for me. On the positive side it was not the super sweet chai youget at most American coffee/tea places but it seemed very under spiced to me. However considering how great everything elsewas, easy enough to look past the tea. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Food was delivered veryquickly. Read more

Very good experience of fine dining, the place was vibrant and busy . Service was good and food was delicious with little... twist. We enjoyed their spinach chaat the most . Their Kadhai paneer was on sweeter side and made like shahi paneer , it wasdisappointing. But overall we enjoyed our dinner there . Read more

Located cozily in the Yerba Buena lane, Amber ranks amongst one of the finest Indian eats in the Bay Area. Their food is... authentic, rich and really well balanced in terms of spice level. The menu is extensive and gives you lots to try when you goback to it. As a North Indian native myself, I LOVE the Dal Makhani (called Dal Amber) - this is one of the few restaurantsI’ve tried in the entire U.S. that pulls off the smoky, creamy and delicate texture of this special dish correctly. Great Indian food. The butter chicken was excellent. We came here for lunch and there was a buffet, so the service was a bit... light. Presumably the dining experience for dinner would be better, with a more classy and romantic atmosphere. The quality ofthe food is good enough for us to come back again for dinner next time. The service and the ambiance were great. Nice decor of the place and the waiter was attentive. Located very near museums and... other bars for a pre drink. We found the fried spinach very tasty and different. On the other hand the curries felt like nothingspecial… the butter chicken was quite flavorless, I know is a non spicy curry but we are used to a bit more flavor… the lambkorma was average. This is one of the only Indian restaurants that I like going to. Coming from India, I find most of the Indian restaurants not... doing a great job in terms of bringing forth the diversity and uniqueness in taste associated with each different item. I findmost of them very similar, and not even close to what you find in the Indian mainland. But I kind of enjoy eating at Amberquite a bit when I crave to go to an Indian restaurant! Read more
