Worst experience ever We ordered combo pizza and the order was taken. After 10-15min, they suddenly told us they?re out of dough... and can?t take the order. We just wasted good quarter of an hour because the cafe didn?t count right. The thing is if they toldus that they?re out of dough when we ordered, there would be no problem. Read more

I had a disappointing lunch experience at Boudin?s today, on multiple levels. The service was lackluster, our cashier greeted my... wife and I with an impatient scowl and short, curt directions. No eye contact through the transaction. And worse, the sandwichI ordered, the Italian, had a truly pitiful amount of salami and meat in it. I can get a better tasting, more filling sandwicheven at Subway. I felt ripped off and left still hungry after spending over $11 on it. Seems like Boudin?s is decent if youhave a chowder/bread bowl craving, but I wouldn?t recommend any of the other menu items. Read more

Upstairs: sit-down restaurant & small museum with a window to see the bakery downstairs. First floor: Quick counter service... restaurant, bakery to pick-up fresh baked bread and a marketplace to buy cooking kitchen wares, hot sauce, cheese, jam, wine, snacks and more! There's also a Peets coffee counter for specialty drinks. Multiple outdoor seating areas as well as smallindoor seatings. Fun place to take kids as they can watch bread begin kneaded and made into shapes like crab, bears, alligatorand other surprises. Fun little museum and clear windows to see how fresh sourdough is being baked. Must see if you are inFisherman's Wharf area. Read more

Best bread! We enjoyed lunch at Boudin's on our first day and breakfast on our second day. Lunch was great, we each enjoyed a... soup and half sandwich combo. Make sure you get something with/on sourdough! For breakfast we really enjoyed the chocolatesourdough. Probably not the healthiest option, but extremely tasty! Love to see they are taking COVID seriously and ensuringeveryone has masks on and are vaccinated to dine indoors. Read more

The clam chowder bread bowl here is classic and delicious! Also don?t miss out on the fabulous selection of breads they sell! Do... yourself a favorite and take a loaf home for later! My favorite is the chocolate chip & raisin loaf, yum! The chocolatesourdough loaf shown in this picture however was disappointing. Will not be getting again. Too bitter to my liking. Read more

This is a must visit in San Francisco. The sourdough bread is awesome. I ate the tomato soup in sourdough bread - it is an... interesting dish where you eat the soup bowl when finished with the soup :-) highly recommended if you?re in San Francisco Read more

Boudin Bakery is a SF classic famous for its clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. I remember visiting the location at the... Wharf years ago as a tourist. This location is targeted at the downtown lunch crowd which has got me to stop by a couple oftimes. It is located in the Embarcadero Center 4, next to Osha Thai on the back side. I generally use the online ordering tooloff their website and pick up after about 20 minutes of ordering. What I like is that they have a clearly labelled section fromwhere you can pick up on-line to-go orders so there is no confusion. One thing that I don?t like is that sometimes they providea bag sometimes they don?t which makes taking everything back to office a pain. I generally get the half sandwich and soupcombo ($8.79). For the soup I stick to the clam chowder in sourdough bread bowl and have tried a bunch of their regularsandwiches over a period of time. Unfortunately you can?t get hot sandwiches as part of their combo which is a shame as I liketo have my sandwiches toasted. The clam chowder and sourdough bread bowl are solid so no complaints about them. The sandwichesdefinitely need improvement. It is very evident that they are hurriedly put together and are actually very basic. I?ve facedsituations where they have used sliced sourdough bread instead of baguette for sandwiches which shows lack of consistency andquality control. Price-wise this is really cheap for the area where a soup and half sandwich combo will run you around $12. Imean in Ladle & Leaf next door or SF Soup Company, just a soup will run you around $7 so this is real cheap. I?m also shockedthat they don?t add any SF healthcare mandate (I don?t see a separate line item in the receipt for online orders) unlike everyother place in FiDi. Overall it?s a little rough around the edges but still a solid place to get a cheap lunch in FiDi. Read more
