A popular tourist location - this is the original Boudin bakery, where it all began. Lots of sourdough and bread items. The... place is not halal. It's all self service. We tried the rustic tomato soup in a bowl which was quite nice. Wish it came withcroutons on the side. The California veggie sandwich was in multigrain bread and had avocado - also tasty. Wish they had addedsome cheese as well. The cheese pizza was delicious and we had it with hot sauce as they didn't provide red chili flakes ororegano. Service was quick. Prices are medium. Outdoor seating was nice. They have a Santa inside during holiday season withwhom you can take a photo. Quiet festive. The interior decor is really quaint - they have aerial buckets carrying freshly bakedbread. My only issue with the place was that it doesn't have a restroom. It's a huge establishment and this is simply notjustified. If one asks where the restroom is, the staff simply directs you to the public restroom outside which was not reallyclean. Read more

The sourdough pizza was pretty good but the chowder was the worst we had over our three day vacation weekend and the bread bowl... was sooooo dry. We ended not eating most of the chowder and only a few bites of the bread bowl. The cheddar croissant wasdelicious though! Read more

We just stopped here for croissants and a drink. This bakery is located in a more tourist area filled with other stores and food... locations. They have another larger location just down the road that I would recommend checking out! Food was good and I wouldrecommend stopping by. Plus the animal shapes of the bread are pretty fun too! The vibe of the place is really nice during the day, We went there for lunch and the bread bowl soup is quite fulfilling and... good. The bread bowl soup should definitely be tried. The Garlic bread with Marinara dip was good too. The complimentary breadthat was served was a bit hard though. Overall it is a nice place to have lunch/brunch if you are in the city. Read more

Friends recommended the place? it sure attracts a lot of tourists. The name is perhaps bigger than the food. We had the clam... chowder soup and sandwich combo. The soup is quite good, although not the top quality type. The bread could have been heatedfirst to make it taste crunchier and fresher. The coffee is very ordinary, suggest to go next door for coffee. Read more

Service was very quick. Clam chowder was ok. I wish there was an option to get another type of bread (not sourdough). I'm Latin,... and we have very different (and amazing (bread). If you are not sure, but want to try, I'd suggest you first order one and shareto see if you like it. Read more

I went there to try the typical clam chowder. It was great but coming from Spain I need to admit that I expected a better bread.... I always heard about the bread in San Francisco, actually it was good but not as the bread that we have. We also tried thetomato soup. It was delicious but be careful with it because it's hotter than clam chowder due to the cheese. Read more
