Welcoming staff and good food although somewhat basic flavors. Large portions. Great location convenient to the Opera.

Literally stumbled onto this restaurant and bar. Was pleasantly surprised. Good food. Mediocre service. Excellent drinks and... dessert. Extensive menu. Highly recommend the plantain chips! Really fresh and delicious. We sat in the front window by a palmtree because we were traveling to our hotel from the airport and they had plugs to charge our phones while waiting for a longtime for our meals. Nice portions. Cute atmosphere. Read more

I was here for lunch. Service is great. The decor and ambiance is unique and makes you feel like you're somewhere else for that... lunch hour. To top it off the food is delicious. If you're in the area and enjoy fried yucca this place is a must. Read more

Park at 326 Larkin St, in the UC hastings garage. You will step ten feet from said garage into Chao Pescao. From there, you can... step into another world. A culinary realm handled with skill, passion, and care. Maybe the best cuban sandwich I've had onearth. Four ingredients, no messing around. Wherein one will find Swiss cheese has inhabited a cuban-traditionally, Chao Pescaooffers Gruyere-a variation which ratchets the experience up to 'once' . . . . Our servers have been just as warm and memorableas the dishes I CRUSH. This joint is a exciting trip. Later, gator. Read more

Very good. The flank steak empanadas were amazing and the cocktail I had, the Pina de Antigua slapped. The service and decor was... very well designed and very loud. I'd however not get the fried chicken again. Just didn't have much flavor beyond the saucethat came with it. It was still very well made, just I'm sure there's something else on the menu that's better (I'd say that's agood thing!) Read more

The most memorable thing about the place was the very unfortunately lighting that made us feel like we were having dinner in a... warehouse. The drinks were okay and the food was a bit better. Was really disappointed in the chicharrones - they look beautifulbut were hard to eat and not very flavorful. Also had a glass of wine with dinner and it was nothing special. Wanted so badly tolike this place, but unfortunately will not be returning Read more

Mike our server was energetic, friendly, and informative. Really excellent. The food was all delicious and the servings... generous. The menu is "Latin American fusion". E.g. arepa de pollo, overflowing with fried chicken, avocado, and other goodies. One of us had the chicken ahi soup and loved it. Another was delighted with his thin sliced beef (under especiales on the menu). We had both the plantain appetizers, which were very different from each other and delicious. Tarta de Alfajores was incredibleand the cheesecake also yummy. The decor was interesting and bright. Our only issues were very high noise level at times (butnot the whole time) from happy customers' conversations and slightly slow service, which we attributed to the fact the place wascompletely full (and for which our server apologized, unprompted). We will definitely go back! It's a very small place, and wewere unable to reserve online for the time we wanted, but successful in person. I wish I had taken more pictures of the food, but it looked and tasted so good I didn't think of it until dessert. Read more
