Their doing some great things at The Anchovy Bar. A really good globally inspired seafood restaurant. Started with a tasty... signature Western Addition oyster. Then I do have to say the quality fish of their fish is top notch. Their was a lot ofcreativity and flavor in their toasts. Then I had some beautifully steamed clams in a buttery broth. Some super soft potatoesserved with some nice whipped seafood infused butter. And their desserts and drink options are on point as well. All in all youneed to come here for dinner. We ordered Californian Anchovies, Halibut Ceviche, Oysters and the seafood stew. Everything was delicious! Portions are small... tho. We were seated outdoors which was pretty windy and cold but overall we enjoyed the restaurant. Will pass on dessert Read more

What a spot. The anchovies are the star of the show, but a wide selection of small plates (tapas style) and a strong selection... of oysters and other cold dishes makes for an awesome menu. Great wines and beers on the menu to compliment the food. The onlydownside is that they don’t have a full bar, so the cocktail options are very limited. Read more

Great service. Awesome vibe. Read all the reviews before you order. Always order the food most people recommended in order to... have a 5 stars experiences. Some food taste funny, like experimental funny, like ruin your appetite funny. Everything goes wrongafter we started to eat fishy rustic geoduck. The taste last when I eat the beautifully presented and loved by most peopleseafood stew, and I think it might be caused by the geoduck so I don't think the seafood stew taste yummy. And I still feel thefishy rustic taste stays when I eat baked oysters, but who can ruin bake oysters unless the oysters is not fresh which I thinkit's unlikely to happen in this restaurant so I blame the geoduck taste. Dessert is too sweet, but maybe it's still because ican't wash away geoduck smell with 3 sherry flight . I feel sad that I feel the joy and happiness in the very crowdedrestaurant but because I order the wrong food that ruin my whole experiences. Read more

This is a rather experimental dining experience for us... And it's definitely not for the faint-hearted. Some of the items were... exceptional. We love their Anchovy and the Caramelized Arlettes for dessert was just out of this world. However, some of seafooddishes were not prepared right for us. Mainly the seafood dishes were all a bit too briny and has strong fishy smell. They wereall very fresh, but there just isn't enough seasoning to cover the briny taste and fishy aroma. So it's not for everyone. But ifyou are an adventurous eater, by all means, go for it. Read more

A wonderful addition by the owners of State Bird Provisions and The Progress. Kat, the pastry chef does fantastic, inventive... desserts for all three restaurants. Next time I’m going to start with desserts first! Read more

Overall, an interesting restaurant with good execution of techniques; however, flavor combinations sometimes fall short. - The... anchovies sampler plate consists of two types of anchovies with distinctive tastes - never thought anchovies could be sodifferent which was eye-opening. - The cucumber salad was too salty for my taste. - The uni guacamole was completely overpoweredby the passionfruit ponzu, little uni taste to speak of, and might actually be less enjoyable than a regular guacamole. Good ifyou like shrimp chips though. - The mackerel was the best dish - the fish was tender, the apple adds much needed sweetness toeven out the salty purple potatoes. Read more

Had a great experience as a solo diner at the bar. Glad an employee told me I could get some items as "half order" as a solo... diner so I could try even more things. Always impressed when a tiny kitchen and staff sharing such a busy, tight space can crankout delightful food. The tetaki was great. Anchovy toast was great (that tomato-yum!). I found the hearts of palm in the shrimplouie a bit firm and lacking flavor compared to the spicy flavors in the dish. Read more
