I've been to DaLongYi 4 times (paused for a couple of years due to COVID), never had a bad experience. I'm from Sichuan, and my... hot pot experience is 30+ years. I can attest that the flavor is absolutely authentic. This is my favorite Sichuan Hot Pot inLA. I took my American friends there, and they all liked it too. A couple of tips for first timers: 1. The spice level here iscomparable to the hot pot restaurants in Sichuan. Translation: medium is already very spicy, even to me. Stick to little spicyif you are used to medium elsewhere. If you can only eat mild in other places, choose little little spicy. There's no shame insticking with non-spicy options, either. Their mushroom soup base is delicious as well. 2. They offer half portions, which is ahuge plus. I often overorder when eating hot pot because there are some many varieties that I want. Having the option for halforders made is so much more friendly for smaller groups. The best part is that the price for their half portion is actuallyhalf of the full portion, so you can enjoy the variety without paying a premium. Maybe I'm lucky, but I also have neverencountered bad service. In fact the service during my most recent visit was top notch. Not only were the two servers attentiveand courteous, the owner was super nice to all the guests (we sat near the entrance and saw she greeting customers as theywalked in). There was a mix up of the soup base for the table behind us, the owner apologized right away and had it taken careof. She came to our table a couple of times to ask for feedback and check on us, even gave my two kids complementary yogurt. Mykids liked the place so much that they asked to go again even before we left. Not saying the other reviews quoting bad servicewas false, just that those were a long time ago, and not at all the same as my personal experience. Maybe they hired new serverssince. The owner definitely has the right attitude to make your visit a pleasant one. Read more
THEY YELL AT CHILDREN!! A grown lady yelled at my 15 year old daughter and her TWO friends and demanded a $12 tip. I would... understand if she went with a big group of friends but no. This restaurant already placed a 10% service charge on her bill andthen expected a $12 tip on top of that?? My child and her friends felt scared to even leave this establishment, in fear theymight get yelled at and scolded even more. This behavior is completely unprofessional and I am certain they would not treatadults how they treated my child and her friends. Do better if you want to keep up with business because you have clearly lostours! Read more
The spicy soup is excellent! The meats and veggies are all fresh. They could have been a bit more generous with the meat. All... the condiments were fresh and neatly organized. Parking was was a cinch. Great place to warm up during a cold night like today. Read more
The quality of the food here is pretty good. Tried 3 different broths: The spiciest one, bone broth and tomato. All of them were... very delicious. The cuts of meat are higher quality as well. They have decent appetizer, small snack, dessert and sauceselection in a buffet style setting which is typical in this type of Chinese hot pot. My only small complaint is that they keepforgetting our requests for water. Overall, I recommend going to the place as you get good food for a decent price. Came here with my wife and the kids. It was a cool experience this was my 2nd time having hot pot and I really enjoy the... interactive part of cooking your own food. Our kids usually dont like to eat much things and I was pleasantly surprised thatthey ate alot when we visited. I'm guessing it was the fact that they interacted and cook there food. Pretty good hotpot but they are so spicy. The food quality was great and the service was really good too. Would definitely come... back and hope they can keep the same quality. Price is a little high but I think it is worth it. This is the authentic Sichuanhotpot, close to what I have tasted in Sichuan although it was not the best and China local ones. After read many negative reviews on Google, I still want to give this restaurant a chance. Though I had a low expectation, this... place still made me very disappointed. The spicy beef broth is very bland because of lacking flavor. It’s only spicy withoutany taste. The portion is small and the price is higher than other hot pot restaurants. If you still want to give it a go,please remember to join the waitlist on Yelp first. Otherwise the wait time will be forever. Read more
Air conditioning doesn’t work well, which doesn’t make for a comfortable hot pot experience when you’re sitting in front... of a stove. There were also mosquitoes biting us throughout the meal INSIDE the restaurant. Food was alright, but won’t bereturning. The low rating is unfortunately valid. Read more
