We visited La Forêt for our 4th anniversary, and couldn't have been happier. The 7-course tasting menu was perfectly portioned... to leave us full, but not stuffed. Each course was thoughtfully prepared, delicious, and was elevated by the wine pairing.Particularly exciting were the grilled tuna in a horseradish thyme sauce (3rd course) and the wagyu tenderloin (6th). On top ofgreat food was excellent service. Everyone was polite, knowledgeable, and unafraid to joke with us once the wine kickedin. Overall, La Forêt was an excellent experience. We'll definitely be back. Read more

A restaurant worthy of celebrating an anniversary, birthday, special occasion, or even a marriage proposal. Yes, this hidden gem... is a fair distance to reach, but the quiet and relaxing atmosphere coupled with five-star service and exquisite cuisinefrançaise is worth the trek. Your loved ones will never forget the experience. The sauces on each dish were phenomenal. TheSoufflé and caramel custards were perfect. The Wild Boar is unique and best described as a very tender pork loin. Read more

If you want to experience what fine dining must have been like fifty years ago, head to La Foret. Just don?t expect an authentic... French experience. I don?t know who they have as a chef, but the food we tasted was definitely not prepared in the classicFrench style. La Forêt is housed in the historic 19th century Hacienda Hotel which was turned into a restaurant in the 1930?s.You?ll enter thru a large reception area and bar filled with eclectic Victorian style furniture, a couple of chandeliers, andwall decor including two extremely unusual paintings of the owner?s dogs dressed in military uniforms. How much more pretentiouscan you get?! The dining room is equally old school, with white tablecloths, dark walls, and servers dressed in starched whiteshirts, black vests, and ties. My wife wanted to try something different for Easter so we made a reservation for their specialSunday brunch. We started by sharing their complementary appetizer plate which consisted of two giant prawns, fruit, cheese, anda marinated mushroom/artichoke combo. Nothing about this item was French in any way. I ordered the roasted Australian rack oflamb, which was cooked medium rare exactly as specified. The lamb was tender but the ?natural jus? that I expected was as thickas an American gravy and it completely overpowered the taste. My wife wanted the Ahi Tuna rare, expecting it to be seared on thegrill, but it was dry, overcooked, and definitely not the quality she?s used to. Both entrees were served with potatoes andveggies, which included cooked kale, cauliflower, and carrots, also not prepared in the French style. Service was surprisinglypoor for a restaurant of this caliber. Dirty dishes were left on the table between courses. Our server stood at the next tablewith her back to us for an inordinate amount of time while she chatted with another couple. They might have been regulars, butthat?s no excuse for ignoring us. We had to ask the Matre? d (Sam) to step in. When spendi Read more

It?s been a week since my wedding and I?ve now had time to collect my thoughts. Let me start by saying I had a great wedding... despite La Foret?s mishaps! The food was good and our guests really enjoyed themselves. The reason for my low rating is becauseof the coordination and execution of La Foret. In the span of 6 months, we met up with the restaurant coordinator a couple timesand talked through e-mail and text to plan details of the day of. Unfortunately, almost all of the planned details did nothappen. Chairs and tables weren?t moved, no printed menus, and no coordinating people to their assigned seating. We had a fewguests drop out last minute because of Covid and the coordinator let us know that we will not be refunded for the food but theywould pack it up for us to go. We only received 2 to go meals even though we paid for 10. In addition, the to go meals onlyincluded the main course (steak) even though we paid for a 5 course meal. One thing I would advise for anyone thinking of doingthe 5 course meal is to allow 3 hours to be done. The coordinator told us it would take 2 hours max (another miscalculation intheir part). This was a costly mistake because we had to pay an extra hour to our photographers. Only last piece of advice.Hire a DJ or bring in some speakers. We were told repeatedly that the music and speeches will be heard throughout the restaurantbut this was not the case. Even during our speeches when most of the noise was settled down, it was extremely hard to hear insome areas of the restaurant. This was our biggest regret of the night. Had the restaurant told us the truth that the soundsystem would not be loud enough, we would have hired a DJ. There was a mandatory $500 coordination fee. Which isn?t much, butit also felt like an absolute waste of money as the details planned were not heard and executed. And our coordinator wasactually a waitress the day of. Let me repeat. The coordinator is a waitress first and a coordinator second Read more

I mean what more can I say than a 5 star review? Food, perfect. Drinks, delicious. Service, friendly and professional. If you... hate mosquitos, ask for a table inside. Their patio is cute but right next to the water so I almost got eaten alive. Worth itthough! This one is going on the short list for us. Perfect place to celebrate your anniversary. They even threw in a freedessert for the occasion ?? Read more
