I'm sad to say that this place was not good. It was my first time here and last. I ordered the shrimp chow mein. The noodles... were good but the shrimp was lacking flavor and not fresh. My friend ordered the general chicken which is supposed to be spicyand sweet but, it was neither. The sauce was runny and salty. I don't do well with spicy food and can attest it was not spicy atall. Not even pepper seasoning spicy. The worst dish of all was the walnut shrimp, it had an old unpleasant taste as if it hadbeen sitting there all day. My friend tried one shrimp and spit it out. It came in a bed a raw broccoli, the Walnuts were plainnot candied, it seemed the sauce was poured over the shrimp so some were not coated and the shrimp was boiled not fried. And toadd to the damage it was $22 for this plate alone. We spoke to the owner who did not like the criticism and instead blamed us.She insisted that the food was fresh even though we got it within minutes of ordering. She refused to remove the walnut shrimpfrom the bill and only offered something else but still charge for the walnut shrimp. There is no point in arguing with someonewho is in denial. We paid the bill and left. As a business owner I would never treat my customers this way. I use customersreviews and criticism to better my product. Unless this lady does the same, I don't see this place open for much longer. Read more

Great classic Chinese food place, all you would expect from that concept. The service was good, and efficient.

Very disappointed with the General Chicken. The Hot & Sour Soup was fairly good. But did not finish the General Chicken. The... rice was not remarkable either. I will not be returning to this Establishment. Sorry about the bad review, but it was necessary. Read more

The waiter was great but the food did not taste good. We won't be coming back. The egg flower soup was made from pork instead of... chicken. The smell was not pleasant. The wonton soup was made out of beef wonton noodles. The food was bland. Needed moreflavor. Read more

We've been to Golden Gong several times now and had a really great meal everytime. They are very clean, friendly, and efficient.... Their food is the best Chinese food on the central coast. Soups are exceptional! I had Cashew Shrimp today and it was delicious!Good portions (enough to bring home for dinner). Highly recommend. Read more

Mediocre!! The orange chicken was dry and chewy! And the cashew chicken was okay... I wish it had more flavor. For the dinner... price of $18 plus $4 a fountain drink it was not worth it!!! Read more

+ HUGE restaurant with plenty of seating. I?ve never seen this place fill up or get too busy. So there?s never a wait + Nice... parking lot + Great views, lots of windows and natural light + Decor is minimal but furniture and fixtures have a nice Asianstyle that isn?t tacky + Ambiance is a little dead, but very peaceful and calm. + Service is so welcoming, kind, attentive, andhumble + One of the very few Chinese restaurants in the area so I?m impressed with the overall experience + Food and prices arevery good. Portions are great! + Lunch special comes with soup and sides. A bang for your buck + Very extensive menu but theyhave all the classics Read more
