Despite carrying the name craft ramen, the dishes that stand out are the rice bowls. We tried this restaurant twice, first time... with salmon poke bowl and pork chashu bowl, second time with tonkotsu ramen combo with mini chashu rice and spicy tuna bowl. Both time, the only thing that were good is the rice dish. The tonkotsu ramen is too creamy for me. If I recall it right, tonkotsu ramen is supposed to be a bit saltier, not this creamy. Read more

Drove to downtown San Mateo today for lunch and to walk around the park. The pork rice bowl pictures is what drew me to come... here. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately and given watermelon mint infused water. We ordered the tonkatsu ramen ($16) andmake it a combo ($6) which includes a side salad, and a small rice bowl. We also ordered the crispy chicken which was the mostpopular thing reviewed online and every single table there ordered it as well. I have to say the tonkatsu ramen and crispychicken is one of the best we?ve ever had. People have referred to perfect crispy chicken before as ?glass-like? but we neverunderstood what that meant until today. One bite of it and it?s so crispy, the batter shatters with the crunch and inside is aperfect chicken. The ramen broth was good, ask for garlic and hot sauce which comes on the side. We also added extra chasu onthe ramen, the cuts were thick and delicious. The pork bowl was really good as well, the combo doesn?t come with the poachedegg, I didn?t add that because we had already ordered too much. Overall, I can?t wait to come here again. We loved it! Tonkatsu ramen: Broth is flavorful but a bit on the salty side Noodles - two types; prefer the thin noodles pork / chashu - one... of the best in the area; extremely tasty and soft Spicy tuna over crispy rice: this is a must try if you order in. To go therice may lose its crispiness. Read more

Fantastic tonkotsu ramen! Super creamy and savory, not too salty. Thick noodles have a good bite to them and I love adding the... garlic paste for an extra boost in flavor. The servers and staff are also incredible! So friendly and such good service, highlyrecommended! Read more

I got the tonkotsu ramen and the chicken bowl combo. The tonkotsu broth is very flavorful and rich without being too oily. The... ramen noodles are just right and the pork texture is great. The miss was in the chicken bowl. Some of the chicken was toocharred/burnt and the flavor of the sauce was a bit off. A little sweet and just didn?t taste right. Reheated it for lunch nextday and added sriracha and it helped a lot. Read more

Ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and Salmon Poke Bowl. The ramen broth was flavorful and tasty. Salmon tasted very fresh, though I... wish there was more poke. Bowl was about 70% white rice. Otherwise, good food. Read more

San Mateo has lots of competition and ramen spots to fight you for your patronage and hard earned dollars! That being said,... this place was good. But I honestly need to come back to try it again for a second try. Shoyu ramen- pretty basic andstandard. Need to give it a second try. Was missing any type of kick that would make it special. Tonkatsu ramen- soft flavorand not really rich like I'm used to but good for the thick noodles. Not bad. Crispy Rice w/ spicy tuna- delicious and mustget! Wished they had side orders of fried rice along with the side rice and salad. Service was excellent and theyautomatically charge you a 16% service charge. Parking can be tough in downtown San Mateo.
