We went back to Paul Martin's, San Mateo, for my birthday dinner bcs we had been there for an excellent dinner a year ago. There... were a few tweaks to the menu. We both had the Asian chicken salad. The pumpkin bread pudding was out of this world. Service wasfriendly, timely and efficient. We highly recommend Paul Martin's. Read more

Update - Nov 2022 Paul Martin's, when it first opened, was phenomenal for the price vs quality of food and service. And yes,... just like gravity, it is clear that it wasn't sustainable. Visited this place recently and service had drastically been moresparse and slow, food was quite good for the price point but it was clear everything was being rushed and mechanical (the samefeeling you get at Cheesecake Factory where sushi ain't really sushi). Service was so slow that we didn't even want to botherwaiting for the kid's ice-cream which is free. They also forgot one of our orders and then right before the check, brought itout in a jiffy as I mentioned it. I would still say awesome value for the money but go at less busier times? Notching it downto 3-stars (from 5). ******* I know this is a larger chain and serves comfort food in equation-like taboo. However you have togive 5 stars here. First of all, this place is like a better version of CheeseCakeFactory or TGI Fridays in terms of food andatmosphere. It is contemporary but isn't shy to serve up a greasy Monte Cristo sandwich which is heartful. Presentation againfits the modern look and feel but then there is "heart" in the cooking and the way they handle children's meal. Due to the darkcolor and atmosphere, one might feel that this is more for a modern young crowd that likes to go out on parties. And it verywell may be. But surprisingly, families have a great time and I see families coming back with kids time after time. Finally theprice. Very very reasonable considering atmosphere and food quality. Definitely will return. Read more

I had the seafood tacos with shrimp and these were epic. I know it’s only two but trust me, I’m a big guy 6’4”, and... these were plenty for lunch. Maybe dinner I could have had a third. Great atmosphere and great service! Read more

Beautiful ambience and great food. I love cheeseburgers and the burger there did NOT disappoint. The calamari was great and so... were the brussel sprouts. Lovely dining experience. Expect approx 65.00 +/- per person with meal, drink(s), appetizer, (shareddessert). Read more

Do not recommend this place!!!! the service is bad, we waited 40 minutes for the order and brought not what we ordered. food... prices are crazy, food quality is disgusting. They put a black avocado in my salad. I don't understand where the chefs arelooking. The atmosphere of the establishment is good, but in all other respects, in terms of service and prices, it is acomplete failure. Read more

Pretty standard fare for American classics done decent. They do a fine job keeping people far enough apart, though the dine in... area got a little too crowded an hour into the dinner rush. Servers seem to cycle often, so we didn't quite know who was ouroriginal waiter. Food was a mix of highs and lows. The sides, dessert and appetizers were great. The entrees not so much. Myfilet mignon was overcooked and the ribs were underseasoned. Most of the flavor came from the sauce they covered it with. Ifyou're at the Hillsdale shopping center and want to dine-in this is as good an option as any of the others. Read more
