Pasta is fresh and well done. My favorite type is the Fusili Pomodoro with added chicken. I like the pomodoro because it has no... added cream. One time I saw the kitchen. Everything is cooked in a generous helping of olive oil, which I think enhances theflavors. I usually order a beet salad on the side. The dressing is good. It makes the arugula nice to eat. The beats here aresomehow juicierthan any other beets I?ve eaten. Read more

I enjoyed this place so much that I came two nights in a row for dine in (traveling for business). I appreciated that it was not... overly crowded, not too loud and looked like they wouldn't be upset to accommodate party of one. Looks like a good portion oftheir business online orders. The ravioli pasta was great, you can taste how fresh the basil and tomatoes are... Tasted likethe basil was picked right off the plant and brought to the table. The ravioli was sufficient serving size to be filling and theravioli filling was delicious. Unfortunately, I was too hungry to remember to take any photo. Jervi, the manager was outsidesmiling and told me all about the restaurant and about the bread made fresh daily and how they made the ravioli that morning.Clearly the establishment is run by people with a passion for good food in a casual environment. Tiramisu was also quite goodand light texture, definitely well made, but the piece is definitely big enough for 2 people. Read more

Walked in hungry and curious and left with an warm belly filled with delicious creamy pasta! Carbonara was a hearty portion of... hot rich Alfredo and bacon bits. Rustica was a rich tomato cream based unusually-shaped but satisfying pasta and well roundedflavors. Jervi was very friendly and accommodating. Plate of complimentary fresh in-house bread accompanied with oil and vinegarpreceded the meal. Read more

Hands-down best Italian I've had anywhere in the US. Better than most places in Italy! Second only to our home-cooking (we're... not Italian, but have learned to cook it well!). Stumbled into this place during an errand trip downtown. So glad we did! Gerviwas wonderful - so energetic - made us enjoy the cafe-isque ambiance. Fresh pastas. Fresh sauces made from scratch Caprese withreal fresh burrata, unlike the cow mozzarella served in most places. Best of all.... cooked al-dente - Bellissimo!! Every pastadish we had was delish - bolognese parpadelle, vongole And all the best of Italian - the food - without the sillypretentiousness of fancy tables and wait staff. We're going to be regulars here I can tell! Read more

My boyfriend and I were headed to the Thai place next store which was too busy to seat us so we came here instead. I was... hesitant because Italian food isn't my favorite but the man in a Hawaiian shirt, the humble "Grand Opening" sign, the ambleseating, and islandy music sealed the deal. We had the mussels and the Pear rigatoni. This has been easily the best Italian foodI have ever had. My boyfriend drank the sauce after we were done with the mussels. I was so happy to see the place full ofcustomers the following month! Looks like they are doing well :) Read more

I walked past this normal looking place, saw a friendly smiling man standing outside so I asked for direction to a cell phone... store, and decided to come here afterward because of how nice and genuine he is. Turns out, this is Jervi, the restaurant'smanager who let himself and his staff serve me even though we came back after they closed for a brief lunch break (between 2 and5PM). The food is out of this world, it's so delicious, I told all my CA friends about this place. The pastas are handmade rightthere so they're super fresh, and the sauce is definitely something I want to steal the recipe for. The 2 dishes we ordered arerecommended by Jervi, one is made with squid ink which is unusual but soooo tasty. I should've ordered another one for to go.The owner's friend was there to visit, he's very friendly also which probably is an Italian thing, and told us that was how theymade pastas back home. Such a nice experience I had that day. Don't leave San Mateo without dining here! Read more

I?m almost becoming a resident there! Delicious fresh pastas and lots of personal attention. Large portions so half goes back... home with me for dinner. Loved their spaghetti vongole, bolognese and mussels over ink squid spaghetti. Casual dining. Dessertsand salads are great too. Read more

The pasta here is delicious! The atmosphere is very casual - it would be a great spot for a quick bite at lunch. The noodles are... really yummy and they add just the right amount of sauce. The portion size is not too big which meant that I could finish myplate of pasta in one sitting. Overall, would highly recommend! I will be going back for more lunches and dinner :) Read more
