This is the best sushi I have ever had. I regularly try sushi restaurants as I travel for work. This spot has the most fresh... sushi I have ever had. My preference is always nigiri over rolls, and normally I?m going with non-cooked options. If you areinto raw sushi, I would highly recommend this establishment. Read more

I tried a few Japanese restaurants around the tri-valley area and find Yayume's food quality is consistently good. Freshness of... the fish is critical to sushi and Yayume's sushi has never disappointed me. Lunch, dinner, take-out... I tried them all. Theyalways make me a happy customer. Read more

Hands down, probably the best sushi/ nigiri I have had in Northern California in a LONG time. I was completely blown away by the... excellent service, variety of fish/ food on the menu, & the flavor & freshness of every item I bought/ ate. While it?s notcheap, for those that are fans of authentic, traditional Japanese sushi, Yayume is absolutely the best option for milesaround. Now on to the meal that won my heart (& tastebuds!): I don?t eat raw salmon, so I had some Scottish Salmon belly whichwas seared ($12). Rich & buttery, a quick hit with the torch really makes this cut ?shine? (literally & figuratively, heh) TheOtoro/ Fatty Tuna was reasonably priced for the Bay ($15), so I got 2 orders, 1 raw & 1 seared. Both were excellent. Finelymarbled tuna belly, cut properly, so it really melts in your mouth. Top quality fish here at Yayume, unlike some folks?definition of Otoro at other restaurants, where it?s just big strands of fish fat, cut improperly, so you wind up gnawing on thechewy bits. Yayume?s Otoro could not have been more tender & tasty. Uni was pricey at $22, but it was very fresh & tasty, so Ididn?t mind. A nice touch was that Yayume also has fresh grated wasabi (both in oil, & without?I opted for without). For higherquality fish (like Otoro, Uni, Ikura) I MUCH prefer it over the glow-in-the-dark green dehydrated stuff at most otherplaces. Ikura here was a bit expensive at $8.50 an order. I had hoped, based on the quality of their other items, that I mightreceive Zuke ikura (House marinated, more sweet & less salty/ oily), but alas the Ikura was just average. Better than manyplaces, but nothing as impressive as the rest of my meal. Ankimo/ monkfish liver app was on the expensive side, but it wasfresh, with good flavor & had tasty ponzu sauce on top (I got an extra side of the ponzu, as I rarely have enough for my ankimo)($14) I got a spicy tuna hand roll (to which I added avocado?I don?t understand when places don?t put BOTH avo & cukes Read more

This used to be my go to place when i was craving for japanese food. The udon was good and plenty of choices for rolls, i loved... the philadelphia roll, lion king roll, rainbow roll, and the baked one. This last time about a month ago the quality of the foodseemed to not be at par with the previous experience i have had with them. Is it the chef? Change of suppliers? Prices arebetter than most in the area. Read more

Pretty good quality for the cost, especially at lunch time. The lunch sushi special was a pleasant surprise.

We had lunch here a few days ago. It was outstanding. I had a bento Box with Tempera, pork Katsu and Gyoza. My wife had a 680... Sushi Roll. This place is just off the 680 freeway. The service was excellent and the servers were young and very personable. And I have to tell you that the price was right. Read more

A little hard to find as it's in the inside corner of the complex. We ordered the Hot Night roll and ramen (I forgot the name... but it's #3 in the menu) with grilled pork belly. They're OK but the pork is soft and succulent. Made me wonder how they made it????. Service was A+ Read more
