The food was decent, but it tasted as though some of it had been sitting under a heat lamp for some time while the rest of the... dish was prepared, although my food did come quickly after I ordered it (perhaps it was already prepared and waiting under aheat lamp). My companions' food took a rather long time to arrive, approaching nearly an hour, although it was good when itarrived, so complaining was minimal. I opted for a beef stew roast, which tasted good and came with a decent quantity of foodfor the price. Most of the menu items seem to be a good value when considering the quantity of food in relation to the price (atleast for restaurants of this style; you can certainly eat more cheaply elsewhere). My companions primarily ordered breakfastitems, and they were quite satisfied, even suggesting that breakfast appears to be the specialty of Black Bear Diner. The staffseemed a little flustered, and I had to remind them of side items that came with my meal and my companions' meals, but weeventually got everything and I would say that the service was at least courteous. Meh... My daughter and I went after school, there weren't many people there, but the waiter complained to the hostess when she... seated us in his area. (Too busy?) We were seated around 2:25. We ordered about 5 minutes later. A hamburger and some pancakes.Food came 30 minutes later. My hamburger was raw, which I didn't notice until almost halfway through eating it. (I was HUNGRY!)So I stopped eating it. The sweet potato fries were good. But my appetite was pretty much ruined once I realized my burger wasraw. My daughter liked her pancakes though. Went to Black Bear Diner last night and was very pleased with Tory! It was her second day with the restaurant. I was very... impressed with her right from the beginning. We were waiting to be seated and a couple of other employees were chatting. Torysaw us and left what she was doing to check us in. After we were seated, she was very pleasant and helped us with any questionswe had. Throughout our visit, I could see Tory helping other employees as well as basically running the dining room. I was hungry and looking for a good place to eat, so I decided to try the Black Bear Diner in Sandy. The place had a really good... vibe, it was clean, the food was delicious, and the staff was friendly! I want to recognize my server Karol who was attentiveand courteous. Food was on the low-side of average for diner fare. It took the kitchen a long time to make our meals, and although some food... was fine, there were some bad outliers. One biscuit was raw in the middle, and one order of chicken fried steak tasted off(especially when compared to another order the table received). We got it refunded, but it shouldn’t have been served in thefirst place (the meat tasted old, and the dish was cold like it had been sitting around). I would not recommend this location. Read more
