I judge a place by their vanilla. It was very bad and there was globs of sticky on homogenized substance that made eating the... ice cream very difficult. I believe it was also stored uncovered because it tasted like a refrigerator. I rarely leave badreviews but just thought the owner should know. Good snickerdoodle and nice cashier. Read more

Family owned, and focused on sustainability as well as customer service, Chunk-N-Chip serves small-batch Cookies plus Ice Cream... inside Santa Ana?s 4th Street Market and has been doing so since August of 2018. Taking an old time approach, with a spotlighton locally-sourced ingredients served without additives, it is along the Market?s outside wall that guests will find a brightlylit space with friendly customer service, prices trending lower than the likes of Salt n? Straw though creativity admittedlyalso lags slightly. Known best for ?Sammiches,? two oven-warmed Cookies surrounding a scoop of Ice Cream for $6.80,Chunk-N-Chip sweetens the deal by offering samples of both halves, the rounds difficult to get a grasp of in tiny fragments butenough to know ?Rose Almond? is far too floral while Red Velvet with Fruity Pebbles is better than it sounds. Offering plentyof room for customization, the concise collection also available at $1.95 per Cookie and $4.50 a scoop, the best deal for thosedesiring variety comes by half-Sammich, salty-sweet Kitchen Sinks delicious whether studded by Cereal or gooey from Nutellawhile frozen ?Ding Dong? riffs on Hostess nicely, but comes up short in texture compared to smooth White Chocolate imbued withcrunchy bits of Honeycomb. Cookies: GOOD. Ice cream: GOOD. Cookies and ice cream, together, in sandwich? Unbelievable! Although there are so many cookie... choices here I decided to go with the traditional chocolate chip cookie work a butterscotch/toffee bits stuffed in between. Thesandwich itself was sizeable. Only thing not good: how fast the ice cream melted. Probably not more than 1 minute after, theice cream had already started melting. I was given a fork with the sandwich earlier, to which I thought, "who eats ice creamsandwiches with a fork?". Quickly found out why. Next time I might have to get a open faced ice cream sandwich with one cookieto see if the ice cream melts as fast. Plus it's cheaper. If you're in the mood for a great ice cream sandwich cookie, find tothe Chunk n' Chip. Read more
