We run an auto shop down the street, and while customers are waiting I do not hesitate to send them down to El Rey Del Pollo for... an inhumanly good chicken burrito - served with beans, actual avocado and proper good tomatoes. Flautas served fresh and withoutstale ends, pollo entero party platters for dinner, and the world's most ridiculously spicy salsa rojo. No joke, this stuff hasto be diluted with other Mexican restaurants' salsa so you don't have to spend the whole time crying like when Mufasa died. It'slike, past Thai hot. It is an experience. Got very obviously old chicken.It wasn?t just dry, it was just old and for some reason, was missing the skin on several pieces... also didn?t smell very pleasant.. Spent the money and have to throw it away and still plan dinner..Disappointed. Read more
This place has the best pollo assado. Grilled/roasted (however they cook it). The chicken was fully cooked but not dry. The... seasonings were enough that you could eat it without needing to add sauces or salt for it to taste amazing. Meat had the perfectsmokey flavor. This place doesn't look like much, but was my favorite food of my trip to Santa Fe. If I am ever in Santa Fe Iwill definitely be back for more. FYI- I am not great with Spanish and the lady taking orders spoke primarily Spanish. If youdon't understand Spanish it might be a bit difficult to get questions answered, but if you have to, you could point at the menuto order. Read more
Very good, very affordable food, as you'd expect, the Pollo is the star. Great flavor. Terrific for take out and left overs.
This place is a joke! Very bad experience, no taste,no flavor my chicken so burned and the middle so raw!!, they never checked... on my if everything is fine? I was coming into town from 599 on Airport road & I was craving a chicken dinner. Something on an open fire & with a Mexican... flair. I went online to find something...anything! What a find is El Rey del Pollo. I can't recommend this small local diamondin the rough enough. Every want a quick dinner for a family of five under 30 bucks. Well here's the place. The chicken is delicious, the beans are... fantastic, and if your not getting a double order of the onions you are doing yourself a disservice. All this in under 10minutes. Read more
