Friendly service, decent food. Older clientele than I'm used to at a French restaurant, and I had fairly basic fare, escargot... and French onion soup, which were fine but not outstanding. I think this is a comfort French more than a haute French sort ofdeal, and sometimes that's just what you want. Read more
A few of my co workers and I met for dinner. Right after work. This was a fancy French restaurant filled with quiet people... eating quietly. We were seated and given the menu and wine list. Our waiter was so cool. As a few of us had never been to anestablishment like this before. Jokes were made about the frogs legs only coming with 3 pieces when they usually have 4...theatmosphere changed. The discussions grew louder...the soup bowls were being raised. My family has been going to La Gare for 20 years. We have never had a bad meal. I don't eat steak, but understand the Beef... Wellington is excellent. I like all the chicken dishes. The salad and soup that comes with meals are a treat too. Service isalways impeccable. I highly recommend La Gare in you are in the Santa Rosa area. Read more

Overall my wife and I had a great experience on our date night. The waiter was attentive and made great recommendations for our... entree and paired it with a nice red wine. The crab cakes were good but a bit mushy. They could use a little more crisp andbite, but good nonetheless. The veggies were a bit overcooked for my taste and my wife's beef wellington was a bit soggy, buteverything came out in a timely fashion and tasted very good. I ordered the spare ribs and can say that although it tasted verygood, I would have liked the option of a different side as I'm not a big fan of mashed potatoes. The dessert, a chocolate dome,was fantastic and helped cap a wonderful evening. The ambiance in the restaurant was pleasant and the indoor dining room wasn'tlit too brightly. We will definitely be coming back and trying the outdoor dining for a different experience. Read more
This is truly a special place. The food is a class of it‘s own. The cesar salad will be prepared right by the table and it was... the best I ever had. The chatauxbriand is outstanding. Unbelievable meat quality and preparation, 10 out of 10. Definitely! Butwhat is really remarkable, it’s a place where you feel your self welcome.
