With a recent add of karaoke on Saturday nights I learned that I actually had a neighborhood pub! Apparently you got started... after I moved here and did my research on what was around and I missed that! My wife and I joke about how much we have so somuch close to us and how silly it is that they say we have a little walkability score for our house! Because this bar, alongwith a place my kid gets his haircuts, and where we order our sushi, and where we get our pizza, and where we get Italian food,and where we get our Chinese food, all in that same shopping complex! And right next door apparently is this pretty fun littlebar called Ricardo's Not a dive bar, based on the prices, and I really wish they would post their prices for drinks, or havemenus that you could actually find. It seems like I get charged different amounts for the same thing. I believe in fulldisclosure so people know what they're doing. So if there's a drink menu somewhere I have not seen it. The karaoke however isfun, well populated on Saturday night by both regulars and people who follow the music. I wish that the karaoke had an elevatedstage, or they move the tables in the corner to where the karaoke is and they put the karaoke there because you can't really seeanyone singing and you can barely hear them because the sound system is not top of the line. But still a fun time even if theirlist of songs is limited. Read more
The food was ok. The French Dip was too salty, and the bleu cheese dressing was pretty mild. But the service was terrible. It... was pretty empty, but the waitress still asked me to move to smaller table. The water she brought left a huge puddle thatstarted running toward me, but I had no napkin to wipe it up - nor did she when she brought my food. She brought the wrongsalad dressing. She never came back to ask how things were and if i needed anything. It took FOREVER to have her come back withmy bill. I asked for more water when she brought my food, but she didn't bring it until she brought my bill. In addition,several patrons at the bar were so loud that I had to cover my ears. But though they could have asked them to pipe down, that'snot entirely their fault. I won't go back. Read more
Used to be our go to dinner spot, and bar for drinks. Now, under new management, all the old staff everyone loved is gone, and... the menu has really gone down hill. Their new cocktail menu looks like they’re trying to be an “upscale” Applebees and thenew cooks are not able to produce food even close to the quality of the previous chef. Really sad the neighborhood gem has takensuch a downturn. Will definitely not be returning. Read more
This used to be my favorite neighborhood restaurant. I just reduced it from 5 to 1 stars. This place was the modern equivalent... of Cheers. It was a meeting place for Bennett Valley folks. It has all changed. The crew that ran it were literally the best.Remember Portafino? The secret to this place's success was that the same chef and bartender ran it. Amazing duo. The supportstaff also was top notch. Everyone is gone. No one knows your name. No one CARES to know your name. The food is frozen andnothing special. I'm sad. I guess the good news is that this neighborhood is too discerning to allow this to go on for muchlonger. Can't wait to see what's next. Read more
