Just got brunch at The Black Bear Bread Company in seaside and it was horrible! The location is great (although parking is... difficult), the staff is friendly and the decor is nice. The food is another story. We spent $67 for some of the worst foodwe've had in awhile. I got oatmeal that cost $18 and it was full of old fruit that should have gone to the composter days ago. My husband ordered a roast beef sandwich and said the beef looked anemic and it was the worst he'd ever had. He regrettedwasting his red meat for the week on that sandwich. My son got a grilled cheese with a fruit cup. His fruit was rotten alsoand his sandwich was mediocre. We so regret stopping there for lunch on our way out of town and if we hadn't rolled outalready we would have sent all the food back. We'll be back in Seaside but we'll never be back at The Black Bear Bread Company! Yuck! Read more

I appreciate the efforts to create a customized beverage without question-and willing to pay for it. The bear latte was... excellent-scrumptious! The employees were friendly and prompt-even with a significant line. The pastries were average. Overall,It?s hard to justify $9 for a latte and $8 for each pastry. Three pastries and a latte totaled $33. For what you get-I agreewith the other reviewer on portions being skimpy-the most I could give is a 3 star review. Additionally, it?s interesting toread the seemingly uninspired responses the company gives when addressing those that review. Read more

The only reason this isn?t 1 star or MAYBE a 2 star is because the cinnamon roll was the best cinnamon roll I?ve ever had in my... life. They overcharge you here for everything (except the cinnamon roll), and have a 15% mandatory gratuity even though you?reordering take out, and the service sucks. And they STILL ASK FOR A TIP when you pay. I?ve heard this location doesn?t do serviceto the company as a whole, but everyone working inside aside from one girl working the register was rude and had an attitude.Wouldn?t go back to this location again. Fraud alert. After check out they informed me that my $16 biscuit and small coffee were not priced right on the menus and a 15%... gratuity was added automatically: for walk up carry out. Food is average. Avoid Seaside location- Grayton is still good. Read more

Gluten free options! Great staff! The small gluten free loaf $7. The sourdough is 2% gluten. My daughter and I gave it a try... when we got back home...1 peice and no problems. The lady said those with celiac disease shouldn't eat it but we haveintolerance instead. I read sourdough had 20ppm gluten and FDA will only allow GF labeled if under 20ppm. Apparently thefermentation of sourdough breaks down the gluten and is easier to digest. Never knew and still cautious. My question to myselfis how much can you have within a day before it causes issues? This was vacation so a treat. I will still keep gluten out of mydiet, except for communion. This was just a great learning experience. Everyone has different reactions to gluten so makeyour own decision on if you'd try it or not. Read more

I am not going to complain about slow service. It is everywhere nowadays after covid. I ordered a shakshouka and what I got was... a tomato soup bowl with 2 poached eggs. It is not how shakshouka are made. At a minimum, the chef should check a YouTube channelon how it is made. Very disappointing Read more

A lot of ratings don?t take into account this is a busy spot with a small kitchen, so if you?re complaining about service... because you had to wait, well? that?s on you. The staff is great and was a pleasure meeting the chef/owner. Food was delicious, perfect and arrived in an expected timeframe. Normally I?d have to season to suit, but everything was spot on. I highlyrecommend the Benton?s bacon sandwich. The French toast was perfectly subtle, dense and was able to enjoy the compote withoutbeing overwhelmed by sugary nothing. The fresh Georgia peaches were keen? peachy keen. Read more

The best pastries & breakfast! The fruit danish was delicious! Also the avacado toast. It had sweet tangy peppers on top.
