Not a great atmosphere. Smells very musty in the entrance area. Waitstaff not friendly, including the hostess. Took almost 10... minutes to be greeted by server and we were first people in the restaurant. Food expensive, especially since pasta is notincluded with meat. Four extra slices of very thin cut Italian bread should not be $3.50. Nothing memorable that would bring meback here. Read more

The food was delicious. The staff were very nice. The food was a little pricey. It's crazy what restaurants charge for drinks... these days. A big bottled water was $6 and to cans of coke were $6. But its like that everywhere now Read more

What a gem! Although tucked away with construction all around, it is worth making your way through! Authentic Italian dining... experience. We felt like we were in their home while they cooked dinner for us. Excellent, personal service, superb house wine, and every course complimented the last. It is a must if you are in Sarasota! Excellent service and fabulous entrees. The service seemed a bit rushed!! We wanted to relax a bit and they weren't that busy... but we felt rushed. Then we asked for them to pack a bottle of wine for us to take away (legal in FL) and they didn't responduntil we started to walk out with the bottle after waiting about 10 minutes. Great location but they need to relax on theirservice! Read more

So glad we came upon this amazing restaurant before seeing a show at the Van Wezel. The atmosphere is so lovely - in a wine... cellar. And the food was absolutely incredible. We had the seafood pasta and it was phenomenal. We will absolutely be back.Highly recommend! Read more

Shared dinner with two close friends. 4 of us started with glasses of house wine, three of us had house Montepulciano and one... house Pinot Grigio. Server went over the specials and we asked for bread ( four times ). Upon delivering the bread we asked forbutter but only 3 small servings were brought for 4 people. Although the restaurant was empty we felt rushed to order as thewaiter came back every 2 minutes to see if we were ready. Starters were Caesar salads for two of us and the recommended Spinachsalad for one of us who requested additional dressing on the side. The waiter came back and said there would be an upcharge foradditional dressing which he declined. Main courses were ordered which included Veal Saltimbocca, Snapper Piccata, BucatiniAmatriciana and Lobster Ravioli. The Veal Saltimbocca was well prepared but the only choice for a pasta side was a thick cutpenne which was disappointing, I would have preferred an angel hair or thin spaghetti with the Saltimbocca sauce. Overallthough a nice dish. The Snapper Piccata was served with the tail on and was overwhelmed with capers which denied the snappersfull taste. The Lobster Ravioli was by far the biggest fail with little or no lobster evident in the dish and just an aftertasteof lobster sauce present in the bite. Finally, the Bucatini Amatriciana special was well prepared and a credit to the porkcheeks defined in the description by the waiter. Summarily, dinner for 4 was $228.23. Overall experience for assumed finedining was a 3 at best. The restaurant was unique and the ambiance was engaging but the rushed service was distracting. With somany choices available in beautiful downtown Sarasota, I would hope every chance to capture a diner would becherished. Unfortunately it felt like we were not special tonight. Maybe next time? I've been here before and I had a really amazing experience, this time was different. The ambiance is wonderful, the service is... nice. The food wasn't as good as I remembered it. Not that flavorful, I didn't like the breadcrumbs in the muscles and thebrisket ravioli was not very flavorful at all the other meal we got was a swordfish and it seemed to be drowning in red sauceand kalamata olives maybe less would have been more in this case. The server was young and I felt like he was too casual for thedining experience and what it called for because it seems like a very classy place. I would definitely give this place anothertry. They have indoor and outdoor dining and an upstairs seating area it's definitely charming a little bit cheesy decorationsbut when I went there in the past they had live music, it can be very romantic.
