I have been told about Der Dutchman a few times from our Wisconsin friends. A nice little Amish themed location that really is... simply a buffet or menu ordered food place. This one just happens to have a really nice gift shop and a bakery. From the buffetI found the chicken and the chocolate cake to be above average. Our server was really nice and I believe the price for eachperson?s unlimited buffet was around $16. Read more

Made a quick visit here while visiting in town. This was always a favorite place in past years to come to for their breakfast... buffet, while I didn?t come to dine in I can say in years past it?s a great place to come any time of day. Their bakery is fullof just about everything homemade you can think of and there are lots of extra treats you can purchase before you check out!Just come earlier then later in the day or you?ll miss out on some of their favorite selling baked goods. I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at this restaurant in Sarasota, FL this evening. My wife and I are visiting from... Colorado. The location is convenient, there was plenty of parking, I was welcomed upon entering the restaurant, I was seatedwithin 3 minutes, the dining room was clean, my table was clean, my server came to take my order within 2 minutes and wasfriendly and efficient, the $16.99 dinner buffet was very good and had about anything you could think of and included ice creamand dinner rolls, the free WiFi worked well, and the men's restroom was clean. Hot and Delicious from start to finish! My waitress was attentive and brought me a new drink without me even asking. Love to... visit the bakery shop, and the upstairs unique boutique. I ate alone, they sat me by a beautiful fireplace. I recommend eatingat the der Dutchman for fabulous service, a Great variety home cooked buffet, and an excellent dining experience. Read more

Very Inviting, Brightly lit and cheery, well cleaned and kept. Order off the menu or Sample nearly all favorite dishes off the... buffet, where the food is rotated frequently with fresh. You will not miss the salad bar, it takes one full section for itself. All the toppings to make a super salad. There is a selection of desserts on the buffet. Would you like some ice cream? vanilla, chocolate or swirl? It is your choice. Ice cream is table served. After you completed your meal, Shop till you drop in theirtwo story shop. Their Bakery is on the lower level. Cakes, pies, cookies and more. You must try their peanut butter cookies!!moist and full of flavor. Wash all the yum yums down with fresh brewed coffee. You may reach the upper level of the shop, bywalking the large double stair case or by elevator, where you will find women's clothing, bedding, wall and table décor andmuch much more. Read more

I had the western burger with cheese and it was amazing! The flavors blend into a unique concoction of deliciousness that you... don't expect! I highly recommend. I had mine without the bun so maybe mine was more flavorful that way than it would have beenwith the bun, not sure. Also, I had the vegetable beef soup and it was very good! I will go back for sure! Had the buffet and a pleasant waitress. Fair variety on buffet of cod, chicken, meatloaf and roast. There was no bread to go... with dinner. Fruits not fresh tasting and stayed unfilled during my visit. Broast chicken was too well done from lights. Roastwas good with gravy, homemade noodles or mashed potatoes and carrots. Salad bar was pretty good but I was surprised with howmany processed items were on it like the fruit and cheese. Meal otherwise was really very heavy. I could not give it 5 starsdue to parking and decreased disability features. I am disabled and I was alone. Had to walk some distance to get to front doorwith cane. There was never any offer of help of any kind, so a disabled person alone needed to be able to walk around the buffetwith no devices and a wheelchair could not. They do have shopping upstairs and an elevator to get there. Again space for WC andwalker would be difficult. They did not offer their pies for dessert unless you want to buy a piece for $1 off. It was chocolatecake and bread pudding. Not exactly the Amish experience I was expecting and the people seating need to greet their guestsfriendly and watch where they try to seat those with physical difficulty. Could have been an unforgettable experience fortravelers and local alike...but wasn't. Read more
