My wife and I love this restaurant. We’ve eaten here or ordered takeout dozens of times over the last few years. We’ve taken... family here and it’s always been a great experience. TOHK (fka Mak's) is a longtime locals favorite. The interior is tight and the decor isn't going to win any awards. But it has a... pleasant, cozy atmosphere. Most important, the food is the best American-style Chinese in the Tampa Bay area. Its not greasy,cooked to order. Great value for seniors or families. The vegan and vegetarian dishes are quite good. With the name being Taste of Hong Kong, you would think you're getting good authentic Chinese food, but that is unfortunately... not the case. I made the mistake of thinking I hadn't been here before when I had been here before and I ordered take-out heretonight, unintentionally giving it a second chance. I should never have trusted a Chinese restaurant that also serves Thaifood. I ordered chicken chow mein. I should have realized something was wrong when I didn't see any chopsticks in my bag. When I got home and started eating, I realized that they gave me chicken and vegetables with a side of white rice. There was nonoodle in there at all. I also didn't get the egg roll or spring roll that is supposed to come with items on the dinner specialmenu. Even the fortune cookie was stale. I am never going to this awful place again. Read more

Food was very good! Customer service was not good over phone and while in store to pick up my order, the lady up front wasn’t... very friendly either. Looked me up and down and said maybe 2 words to me. I still tipped very well and she said nothing to meafter. Might not return, but food was yummy. Read more

Possibly the best Chinese restaurant in Sarasota County. Writing as someone who has dined on the finest cuisine from Hong Kong... to Shanghai to New York's Chinatown, I can say the taste is flavorful and genuine, and as good as you can hope for in acommunity without a significant ethnic community. The restaurant decor is plain and simple, but if you're here as a foodie, youwon't be disappointed. Their salt and pepper calamari is a must-try. Beef short rib with asparagus, chicken with eggplant inclay pot, seafood clay pot grouper clay pot are delicious. Actually, have not had a clay pot dish here that disappoints. Fun night for Chinese New Year. Great staff, family friendly, great prices... loved the ginger duck!

So far I have had the Crab rangoon, their Pan Fried Dumplings, and soup. I'll tell you though- ive come to think that if they do... the best Crab Rangoons ive had in Sarasota, then they are worth a shot for anything. I have a love for Rangoon and Dumplings-thats my jam. I found these Dumplings to be on the "poofy" side, but I still really enjoy them (2nd fave. Dumplings inSarasota......very close 2nd).
