Fantastic atmosphere, fun place, lots of teas, but know you can't compare to true English tea time, seems like there was a lot... less food compared to what one would get in the UK, but this is not the UK, so you pay for the atmosphere/setting in Saratoga,and can't compare, otherwise you will be disapointed...very friendly service as well. Run away and never look back We had a very similar experience to the reviewer below. I wish I had read their review before I... booked. Unfriendly, rude, unhelpful service from the moment we walked in. Seemed to have no knowledge of the teas on offer andno interest. No description of the teas available. Bad service reached a head when we noticed the milk was sour. Rather thansaying sorry and replacing it immediately the server informed me that the other milk in the back has the same sell by date andso therefore we just wouldn't be given milk with our tea. When I asked her to just open the new carton of milk she did. Thesecond milk was fine. But she then came back to rudely inform me that she had tried both milks and that they were both fine andthat I was wrong about the milk being sour (I wasn't wrong but of course that's not the point ) I asked to see a manager as thewhole situation was soooo uncomfortable and negative only to be informed that she was the manager!! At this point I almostwalked out but this was was supposed to be a special day for my child and me so I decided to stick it out. I finally asked herif something was wrong and she said yes. That I had laughed at her about the milk. I explained that I was laughing at theridiculous situation not at her. She got more and more angry and then walked away.she then returned to apologize and said thatit had been a stressful day and me laughing was just the last straw. I thanked her for telling me and we had a conciliatorymoment. The food was good but they messed up my child's order and I was too afraid to let her know..She gave us free scones onthe house I assume to make up for the bad experience. I struggled with whether or not to write this review given her apology But honestly the whole experience ruined what was meant to be a special occasion. I've been in tea rooms from Ohio to California and as far north as Washington and this was by far the worst tea room experience... I've ever had. The decor was reasonable with an Alice in Wonderland theme but could have really been enhanced with that thememuch much more to draw you in to the experience. For some reason they integrated Prince William and Kate as well as WinstonChurchill and other photos of princesses instead enhancing the whimsical theme of Alice in Wonderland. . . The only thing"Wonderland" like was the haphazard garage sale like furnishings. We were hastily greeted by the hostess/server dressed injeans, a t-shirt, and an apron, who pointed to distant select areas we could choose to sit while she greeted two other guests.Hum, not getting off to a good start. The server really gave an air of annoyance that we were there, we attempted to ask menuquestions but were brushed off quickly as she said she had to go help the other table. Another couple guests arrived making atotal of three tables for one server. You'd think that was reasonable, but it only got worst. When you ask about tea flavors atmost tea rooms, they are excited to bring you a canister and waft the aromas for you to enjoy but, no, we got a "go over thereif you want to smell tea." The shelf "over there" was a bit disarrayed as we looked for teas on the menu-but not on the shelf,and found teas on the shelf-but not on the menu. . . And a statement from the server that they were out of many teas. Oh my.After selecting our tea and trying to place our food order the hostess/waitress quickly dropped off two tea strainers on thetable (stacked together and bent up quite a bit) and again rushed off. After finally placing our order of Tea for Two at a costof over $37.00 each, we thought we had made it over the rough patches. As a regular here, I'm surprised how many people have left negative reviews, but I guess that's primarily why people come to... leave reviews for a place. There is one server I have noticed who does not share the same attitude and passion for tea as theothers, and I won't sugarcoat it, she does stick out for sure. She has a bad attitude on the phone and does not dressprofessionally. I get why people would be turned off if she is the only person theyve dealt with and I'm truly shocked that shestill even works there because she does ruin the experience. Though I could do without her, the rest of the staff is so sweetand the experience of this tea parlor is one of my favorites. They have an adorable "mismatched" and whimsical theme and afantastic selection of teas (which are unlimited with all tea services). Everybody gets a different looking chair, cup, andteapot and it gives off a very Mad Tea Party vibe. There are also several menu options, ranging from small tea services with acouple snacks to a full blown 3 tiered service.
