What a great brunch spot! A Saratoga celebrity Chef named Maddie Hosley opened this restaurant almost a century ago. We sat next... to the framed newspaper with the history. Iwent with a group of friends and started off with the chicken wing blood marry, yeschicken wings in your Bloody Mary and it?s as awesome as it sounds. They are known for the chicken and waffles so I ordered thatand it was delightful! The fried chicken was crispy and left a crunch into the juicy white meat. Serving ice tea in small juice... glasses.sugar beignets on the skimpy side,doesn't cost much for yeast,flour,eggs, Hatties should remember it was known forgenerous portions, the sides are important as well as main entree. I had high expectations for a recent dinner at Hattie?s with a group of friends - Hattie?s did not disappoint! Our hostess was... very pleasant and attentive. Our table was seated in the front of the restaurant, but we had our eye on the back, where wethought we might really enjoy the atmosphere. Our server, Killian , went above and beyond to move our table to the back uponrequest. In fact, the staff seem to work so well together overall. Our meals were delicious, and everyone had a great time. Thebirthday girl was treated to pecan pie and our servers really paid attention to all of our needs. Hattie?s reputation precedes itself! My husband and I stopped for Sunday brunch and I was nervous about the possible wait time... but we got seated right. The Bloody Mary was tasty but surprisingly small for $11. I would think $8 would make more sense forthe small size. My husband had the chicken and waffles, I had the chicken with cheesy grits and we shared an order of theirbiscuits. Yummy! I can?t wait to go back for more. I would like an option of having some spicy cheesy grits. The highlight wasthe staff. It felt collaborative. Everyone I saw working offered us help, asked if everything was ok and was friendly. The decor was really cute and the service was absolutely impeccable (I think we had Alex). The prawns, wings, & fried green... tomatoes were excellent starters, however the biscuits were super salty. (Everyone at the table agreed). I?m sad to say thefried chicken wasn?t the best I?ve ever had. It was just okay. The ribs fell off the bone, but I was disappointed with the Macand cheese which was just creamy, but had no real cheese pieces. My order was fantastic, I got their fried chicken sandwich, taste was delicious (considering I am not really a friend chicken... kinda gal). I did add bacon to it.
