Absolutely loved this place~decor, service, food, value--can't wait to go back! Started with a cup of Tuscan bean soup--to die... for! It was so flavorful & good. Sand dabs were excellent with delicious rice & vegetables cooked to perfection. My companionhad a delicious club sandwich & salad. Everything served cheerfully & quickly. I had a fantastic meal here today! I thoroughly enjoyed the Bandito Burger. The chicken club was a generous portion of juicy... chicken. The onion rings were delicious and the obviously homemade ranch was spectacular. The fish and chips were off thecharts. The chips, different from traditional fries, were incomparable to any other. Like the fish, they were crisp on theoutside and soft and light inside. You’ve got to try them! Our service was incredible: quick, kind, and witty. Ive Been Going To Googies in the Past Few Months for Dinner. Fansrtastic. So I Thought Id Try The Breakfast I Order the Haleys... Comet Special. I guesse server Didnt Hear Me Say BACON since It Comes CHOICE OF Bacon Ham Veggie Pattie. When It Came I was NOTIMPRESSED. The Pancake was OK but Maybe a bit Undercooked. Hash Browns Looked More Like MASHED POTATOES not a Bit Crispy. Inever had to Ask Crispy in Other Breakfast Places. I Asked Well Done for Scrambled They Were OK. I Mention to Server I shouldNot Pay for Breakfast Because No Bacon till I asked Later. Ill Go for DINNERS NOT BREAKFAST NO TIP!!!! Read more

Last year there was a fire at this restaurant. So they rebuilt and remodeled it. At first I didn't understand the name and decor... because the dinner menu and the professionalism of the waiting staff didn't seem to fit the 1950 era that the restaurant hadsaid it was on line. We were expecting it to be more casual. Don't get me wrong the feel of the restaurant isn't fancy butdefinitely not the laid back feel I thought we were going to have. The decor has this pretty teal and the architecture of therestaurant does not match what it looks like outside. They have comfy looking booth seating, the music was jazzy, the woodworkwas beautiful and the feel seemed more upscale than we expected. Prices for dinner was a little higher than we expected too. Wejust went in for a small bite to eat. The waiting staff was so professional, friendly and attentive! We kinda felt we were inCarmel!! I LOVEDDDDDD the French Onion Soup! We probably will go back for breakfast since there menu has a lot to try AND THEYHAVE BENITS in the morning. Food was absolutely amazing. Wait staff on the other hand not so much. 1 waiter, 1 hostess? And the waiter not only wouldn't... keep his mask on correctly, he also really didn't check on us at all. The hostess had to refill drinks and I had to get thewaiters attention to get boxes and the check even tho we had clearly been done and sitting there waiting. We will definitely beback but will probably get take out as to avoid the whole sit in experience. Read more
I went here 2 times while visiting Monterey. Nice little local place with a decent menu. I had shrimp scampi one nite and the... scampi sauce was tasty but very thin and watery. Seemed more like jarred garlic not fresh bulbs. Garlic bread wasexcellent. Then I had blackened chicken over Alfredo linguine and it was excellent, large portion too. Onion rings-frozenstyle, meh. An interesting place. The walls are filled with photographs of buildings, like NORMS, Capital Records and other buildings... designed in the Googie style. Hence the name of the restaurant. Food is generous. Service is personable. The homemade cornedbeef hash and Googie potatoes are tasty. Pancakes are satisfying. The serve on an outdoor patio, as well as inside, even ondrizzly days.
