This was my first time there, and it wasn't too bad. I would suggest going online and looking at their menu first before going.... Get an idea of what you might want and if you have any questions then ask them when you get there. The menu can be a littleextensive and or overwhelming. The staff was very friendly and did their best to help us decide what we wanted to eat. This isauthentic Mexican food so don't expect a Taco Bell type flavor. There is no ground beef. All the meats are shredded. I wouldsuggest if you're going to get tacos to get the hard shell as the soft shell was a little raw tasting. Overall the food was verygood but I will know what I want next time before I go so I won't feel pressured into making a quick decision. Read more

Authentic Mexican food that is consistently delicious. The chorizo & potato tacos here are some of the best things I've ever... eaten. Everyone here is super friendly. As their sign says, this is not fast food - prepare to wait or call in your order aheadof time. Read more

The potato and chorizo tacos are out of this world. We ended up eating here 3 times in a week! As their sign says, "we are not a... fast food restaurant, good food takes time", but it's well worth it. Read more

Since it was a Tuesday night we had to have Tacos. We are so glad we found Montes Cafe online. It is a small family owned... restaurant that has a wonderful Mexican atmosphere. The owner greeted us and even took our order. I had the beef tacos withlettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream and a green hot sauce, it was exactly what I was looking for on a Taco Tuesday NIght fordinner. The shells are homemade and delicious and just the right amount of food. Reasonably priced for. a shore townresturant. And as all restaurants are doing nowadays, if you pay cash you pay less. Highly recommend it if you are looking forsome good Mexican food while down in the Seaside Heights area. Read more

Every city I visit I like to try their taco spots. I’m also a bit of a stickler for authenticity, I don’t like super overly... Americanized versions of the food. This place is where you want to get tacos from in Seaside. My wife and I went for dinner andordered their Bistec (steak) tacos and an order of rice and refried beans. The food came out within 5-10 minutes and was hot andfresh. They slightly fry the tortilla which gives an awesome crispiness vs unfried/toasted. Bottom line if you want fantasticauthentic tacos, grab them from Montes. I’ll be back more than a few times before I leave. 10/10 Read more

I have been coming to Seaside in the summer my entire life. My family orders from other Mexican "inspired" restaurants in the... area and for years I have been disappointed with their food. Monte's is a blessing. The moment I stepped foot inside to pick upmy food I could tell this place was authentic. The food followed through. My tinga tostadas were one of my favorite meals I haveeaten in months. They were absolutely up to the highest quality bar I have for comparison. The quesadillas were alsooutstanding. The veggie was delicious, though my uncle complained that the shrimp one did not have enough shrimp in it. Thetacos all had good tortillas. The carnitas tasted good, it had a full flavor to it. The chicken in the tacos was dry, but theprovided sauces were good. You can tell the chips are made in-house. They were very good. The guac was smoother than I expected. My family wanted empanadas. They were fine, but I didn't expect anything special on that front from a Mexican place. On thewhole this was not the best Mexican food I have ever eaten, but it so far surpasses its competition and does certain things suchas the tostadas, quesadillas, and chips well enough that I am giving it 5 stars. I am ashamed it took me this long to discoverMonte's in Seaside. Read more
