I was planning on going to Lil Woody's to try the Jackson's Catfish Corner Sandwich for Seafood Week, then I thought why not... just go to Jackson's Catfish Corner. I haven't been there since I went to the original Catfish Corner quite a while back onlybecause I didn't know it had reopened. I took the 4 from First Hill, very convenient. I ordered the deluxe burger, catfishsandwich, fries and tartar, greens, coleslaw, and cornbread. All the food was delicious and hot. Nice atmosphere, cleanincluding the restrooms with nice decor, helpful staff. They didn't forget anything that I ordered. Sturdy bags made it home ok,food wrapped and packed with care, sandwiches cut in half. I feel like Catfish Corner has the perfect recipes and the cooksfollow it to perfection. I... ordered the The Captain's Platter, side of tarter (packed beautifully, I might add), and potato salad. Are you kidding me!? The corn meal crusted catfish and hush puppies I remember as a kid. Live smooth jazz music playing in the... corner. A new modern vibe formed out of an old Saturday tradition? Nice vibe and super friendly staff. Great food and 5-star service! We tried the Captain platter on our first visit and it was... amazibg. Good meal and quality comfort food at a decent price. The quality of the catfish is hit or miss, though, and at times can taste... dirty or overcooked. If dining in, you can expect great music, a basketball game in the background, and plenty of hooting andhollering near the kitchen. The place is party and has good vibes. Captain's Platter was a good mix of various menu selections.The dipping sauce is mayo-based and adds substantially to the meal. French fries are crinkle-cut and pretty good.
