Had amazing tequila/beer/nachos at the Matador last night. Rosa was our amazing server! She got our drinks and food out in a... very timely manner and checked in on us regularly. Matador is my ALL TIME FAVORITE place in Seattle for Mexican food!!!! Especially their happy hour. We love both the new Ballard... location & West Seattle. Before they moved in Ballard I was a regular at the old location - going for late night happy hourmultiple times a month! The West Seattle location is a little further away for us, but when we're in the part of town we alwaysstop by. They have one of the best happy hour's in Seattle, the food is always amazing, and great portion sizes! Also, HUGEdifference that makes Matador stand out is the free chips & salsa. So many places these days don't do that anymore which isreally disappointing... I know it's something small, but it's part of what makes Matador great, and shows they appreciate theircustomers!! The margaritas are all yummy, and they have a big tequila/mezcal menu. Great place for either a date night or tohang out with friends!! Boyfriend and I have been coming here for about a year now and always forget to take pictures because the food is always cooked... to perfection. Even on the off days the food and drinks are good. I have a sever dairy and egg intolerance and have never had anissue requesting substitutions or omitting items from a dish. The atmosphere is always excellent, music selection is always onpoint. I have been going here for almost a year now and it has to be my favorite spot in West Seattle. The servers are funny and kind,... as well as super helpful. The restaurant atmosphere is beautiful and they?re always playing the best tunes! They have wonderfulhappy hour food options and deals and the food is amazing quality! One of the best Mexican places I?ve ever been. Great for afun night out with friends or a date. 10/10 would recommend. Read more
May 14, 2022 The food is SO amazing!! I came with a friend once before and forgot to take pix of the food, it was that good, we... just dug in! I couldn?t wait to return! Chips and salsa hit the spot, but try the Dip Flight!! The queso, guaca, black beans andsalsa!! It?s almost a meal itself. And all of it goes well with everything else. I had the chicken Quesadilla-every bite hadshredded chicken that was to die for. And the sour cream-it?s outstanding! Partner had the Street Tacos, 5 and of all types, heside ?they were packed with flavor.? Now he can?t wait to go back ????Oh, and the service is good too, fantastic staff!! Read more

As far as I am concerned, the quality of chips n salsa, quanto ?pica? la salsa, whether or not they have fresh jalapeños or... Serrano peppers in the kitchen, how authentic their meats are cooked and the quality of classics (like chilaquiles and tacos)?these things are the determinants of whether I return or not. Atmosphere and price are secondary, to me. Matador West Seattlescores very high during my Happy Hour visit. The salsa was quite mild, but w a nice flavor. The street tacos (chicken) wereperfect (and the happy hour price was top notch). They even gave me a lime for my Modelo Especial w/out having to ask forone. Their spicy salsa was quite spicy (7 or 8, maybe), and the slight sweetness was provided by pineapple juice? unique andyummy. (Although, the ?creamy? texture apparently comes from butter and I don?t have a clue who thought salsa needed creamybutter, but ?whatever) The service was TOP notch and the manager (owner?) who brought me my food was clearly well versed on theingredients of each dish. Service people were friendly and present without being too present. Their regular menu looks like itis worth a try, and given the quality of this Happy Hour visit, I?ll be back w friends! Only amendment after reviewing thereceipt (when I got home)? two charges for ?medium?, $2.50 and $1.50, no idea what that could be for, unless it is for the spicysauce and the chopped peppers.
