Wonderful dining experience at The Whale Wins! Very similar ambiance and experience to The Walrus and Carpenter in Ballard,... without the oysters. We loved the family style ordering so that we could try several things on the menu that were all fantasticand carefully crafted. Our server coursed our picks out for us and was very attentive and kind, even going out of her way tomake our anniversary dinner special. Cocktails were all a hit, so much so that I had to try all four that they had on theirmenu, and the servers champagne choice was delicious as well. They even have a little storefront right by the entrance of therestaurant that you walk past if you use their restroom. Carrying things from locally made gelato, craft beers, wines, tokitchen ingredients and merchandise from the restaurant. We couldn’t help but grab a few things on our way out. Ill definitelybe curious to come back in the future to try any new menu items and I’d absolutely recommend this place to anyone in theFremont area looking for a good meal. Read more

Service was good, but meals were over-priced, under-portioned, and over-rated. Unfortunately, this is typical of many... Seattle-based, boutique eateries as they take advantage of the local clientele who will typically pay these prices and notexpect quality. Side note - I tried the Eton Mess since this is the only place in town to get one. I fell in love with thiswhen I went to Ireland. It was good, but not what I had expected and is typical. Associated pics of our entree (note portionsize) and the Eton Mess, post "mess" I guess ???? Read more

Great food and good vibe and decor. Rene’s food is consistent from one restaurant to another restaurant. The service is... above others while still has a casual feel that makes you comfortable. Seafood is always great and look forward to my nextvisit Read more

Great place for small plates! We had the scallops, parisienne gnocchi, and olives. Great ambiance on the patio; staff were... friendly and very knowledgeable on menu items. However the menu in its presentation felt a bit pretentious in our opinion. It'simpossible to know what portions you're receiving by menu alone, as it lacks section headers for starters, entrées, etc. Againstaff were helpful with this and flavors were delicious, but the warm and casual vibe of the restaurant was a confusingjuxtaposition with the menu for us. All things considered, it is a great stop in a beautiful location! Read more

To start, I have got to say that I had one of the best dining experiences at The Whale Wins. The entire serving staff went... above and beyond what was needed or required to give a wonderful dining experience. They were able to answer any question, helpwith allergy and dietary restrictions, as well as suggestion great food. The food itself was great, as to expect from thisrestaurant. The shareable plates were all unique, fresh, and thoughtfully plated. My significant other tried the half chicken, and it was the best chicken she has ever had. I have no idea how they were able to cook the chicken so tender. I wouldrecommend getting a reservation a few days out in advanced as it can get busy on the weekends. Read more
