So much to say about the Purple Onion in Shallotte, NC! Where else can you so reasonably enjoy a generous slice of homemade from... scratch cake like grandma made or oversized muffins or cookies?? As you enter the cafe draws you right in with the warm homeyscents of a bakery to look almost drooling at the refrigerated glass cooler and cases filled with tempting sweets?! We wouldrecommend trying anything on the menu? tho we are so happy with our usual order of quesadillas we never get too far in tryinganything else! They are very accommodating of food allergies and requests. Try the fresh made potato chips too! The sweet tea issome of the best around?I like it half and half with extra lemon! Do not miss this adorable yummy cafe! It?s such a good valueand is just so tasty! There may be lines so go early as they close at 3! Absolutely worth a drive and any wait required.Strongly suggest purchasing baked goods immediately after putting name on list so they aren?t sold out when you finish yourmeal. Read more
Great food great service. If you havent been I think you will enjoy it. Their deserts are great with a greap price.
Stayed in Ocean Isle mid July. Visited here twice because it was so good. Most places can?t find good help but this staff is... unbelievable. Food was good and the desserts were great, Boston Cream Pie. Thanks for your hospitality. Read more
Stopped for breakfast while driving through Shallotte. Very glad I did It was very busy there, but we were seated quickly. The... staff were very friendly and service was great. The food was amazing! Well worth the wait. I had the breakfast platter with pancakes. The sausage was was great and the pancakes... some of the best I've had! They have a full bar and the coffee drinks are wonderful! Read more

We had the Purple Onion Club sandwich, and it was massive! The quality of of the meats were top notch. The pepperjack cheese was... delicious & the bread fresh and toasted perfectly. EVERYTHING, and I do mean EVERYTHING I have eaten here has been exceptional!!! The prices are more than fair, and the portions... are larger than most places. Desserts are all homemade, and out of this world!!! The service is on point, and very pleasant. Wedrive in from Myrtle Beach/Conway are to eat here.
