My husband and I went to Penn Station for lunch. In the last couple weeks, we have purchased the same sandwich twice before... today, which was the grilled Italian classic. It was filled with a nice amount of meat and was delicious. Today we ordered thesame, a 9 inch and a 6 inch, but there was next to no meat on part of the sandwich and 1 or 2 thin slices over part of sandwich.We paid $14.50 for bread and lettuce, do I took my sandwich to the cashier to dhow the manager. Was not very pleased. It took about 30 or so minutes for us to get two hot subs two fries and some cheesy garlic bread. I got... the chicken teriyaki and my friend got the Reuben. The chicken teriyaki did not seem like there was any teriyaki sauce the subjust tasted like the cheese all the way through it looks like maybe a little bit of teriyaki sauce was put on the bread prior togoing through the oven but literally just looked like cheese and chicken on bread. On the Reuben it was drenched with dressingand also did not have much taste to it. The cheesy garlic bread was overloaded with marinara to where we almost didn't want toeat it because it was covered and busting out the wrapper. We decided to at least try it and after a few bites just ended upthrowing it away. The marinara had no taste to it and it just tasted like seasoned bread. The fries were decent and seemed likeFair fries however our wait look like it was due to fresh fries being dropped in but they were cold in the bag within a minuteor two so I'm not sure we even got fresh fries or not. Also they were put in the bag upside down and they were the very firstitem in the bag so they were all dumped along the bottom. the bread at least tasted fresh and was good and soft it did not seemlike it was old. Again not too happy with the experience for spending $40. May try one local to me to give it another shot butI'm not sure if I even will. Lemonade. That is all. Actually this place is really worth it. The Ruben, fries, a large lemonade is my go to. Sometimes... you'll wanna order extra meat for sure it can seem lacking at times, however the fries and lemonade are actually the stars here.Finish it off with a super soft (not brown) cookie with massive chocolate chunk. I've heard a lot of people want them more done,not me! Love the cookies the way they are. Overall this place actually amazed me during my first visit and over the years I'veordered just a half gallon of lemonade, (they'll bottle it, MUST refrigerate it) worth the money! Read more
stopped in for a quick rap the other day. It was my first time eating at a penn station. the sign says you can get any sub... as a rap but when i tried to get the chicken dagwood i had to walk through everything i wanted on it. waiting on the foodwas the worst part. took longer than i thought it would. when i finally got my rap it was not fully cut so had to pull itapart making it a bit messy for eating on the go. that said you could taste the freshness of the vegetables and the chicken was delicious. i also liked the look of the store. i give a 2 for quick stop, a 3 for prep and a 4 for flavor. The owner use to be on site most of the time and now we haven't seen him the last 3 times we ate here. As such the quality has... dropped drastically, half the meat on the sandwich as normal, they forgot to add extra mushrooms so they brought it out in acup, note the pic, seriously the were only 4 slices for a 12" sub....REALLY!
